Well we were in Paris last week - gone 8 days (only supposed to be gone 7, but got stuck in Detroit).

I was feeling naughty and a bit discouraged before the trip, so naturally I was avoiding the forum. Because the last thing we want when we're being naughty and overeating is to admit it out loud.

But I'm back, went to my Weight Watchers meeting and had a successful, reasonable day yesterday. Planning on keeping up with healthy eating and plenty of exercise.

I have a few photos! Warning, there's food shots, so you might not want to view on a fast day :-)

Welcome home !!!!!!

I thought you were absent for longer than you were planning to be away... Why do we stay away when our eating goes off track, when that is perhaps the best time to be on the forum for help, support and motivation?? Anyway, great to have you back.

I only see one photo though - a lovely happy one of you! I hope you don't mind me saying, but the first avatar you had gave me a completely different image of you to your recent one and seeing you in your photos - but I find it very hard to replace that first image in my head when I think of you. So more photos please, maybe that will help!

I assume Paris was as marvellous as always?

Oh Paris was wonderful! We had such a good time!

Try this link to the whole album on photobucket -- perhaps this will help?

We went to Giverny and Versailles. We visited the Orsay, Orangeries, Conciergerie, Marmottan and Sainte-Chappelle. We ate and ate and ate! We met up with three different groups of friends. We participated in the Paris March for Science, and then we went to the Paris flea markets and "La Chope" - the dive bar where Django Reinhardt played gypsy jazz/manouche for all those years. They still have manouche on the weekends. :-)

The link worked fine, thanks Tracie. It certainly looks like you were having a great time and managed to do and see a lot. And the food looked good, and pretty "healthy" on the whole. I did notice a lot of red wine....!!!

Many of your photos bring back memories for me, I think I have mentioned to you before that my mum's favourite non-English European city was Paris, and it is the only such city that I have visited a number of times, as a result. I am so glad we were able to take mum there on her last overseas holiday.
Welcome back! Looks like a great trip, one of the places on my bucket list to visit. Especially if the food is as good as it looks in your pictures!

Thanks Zesty!! The food was (mostly) AMAZING! But I know some people in Paris, so I got some recommendations, and I read a lot of reviews. I think I was most impressed by Frenchie Bar a Vins (160EUR for two, including 2 "small plates" each, a plate with four cheeses, 2 desserts, a bottle of wine and an extra glass of wine), and La Bourse et La Vie (140EUR for two three course dinners and a bottle of wine). We loved Laperouse, but I enjoyed my food more than hubby enjoyed his, apparently, and it was super expensive at about 460EUR. We ate lunch at a perfect quintessential cafe, Cafe Varenne. It was a little pricier than most cafes but the quality was excellent. We had the best indian food I've ever had at New Jhelum, and I believe we got out for 80EUR including two aperitifs and two beers.
