I've got nothing to read and really need to buy some books. I've had a look at the book club thread but I'd have to read it all night there's so many post. Any suggestions??? Whats your favorite book??? I'm going to get the Jon Richardson book 'It's not me it's you'. Anyone read this? My favorite book is 'Marching Powder' by Rusty Young. I've read a couple of Sidney Sheldon books over the past few weeks, not really my thing but they only have a few english books at the spanish library. Let me know which books you just couldn't put down

Just thinking the same thing justdee. I've read the book club books. I just read Eric Idles book The Road to Mars, very strange but it is Eric Idle
I think I might grab my sons Terry Pratchett collection and start on that.

I'm a big fan of Haruki Murakami, but I guess he's not for everyone. I also really like David Mitchell, though again, not for everyone. I am currently reading "Flight Behavior" by Barbara Kingsolver. I always like her books. And, for a little easy (though certainly not light!) reading, I just finished the Hunger Games trilogy.
@MaryAnn, loved the hunger games and I think the movies of the book are very good too.
I also really like Game of Thrones and I'm enjoying the tv series.

The Other Hand by Chris Cleave is such a good book. I got it out the library because this was on the back cover:
We don’t want to tell you too much about this book. It is a truly special story and we don’t want to spoil it. Nevertheless, you need to know something, so we will just say this:
It is extremely funny, but the African beach scene is horrific.
The story starts there, but the book doesn’t.
And it’s what happens afterwards that is most important.
Once you have read it, you’ll want to tell everyone about it. When you do, please don’t tell them what happens either. The magic is in how it unfolds.

The Book Thief is my recent favourite book. It was a very good read.
Thanks everyone for the ideas will give a few of them a go. @KataMac you got me hook already with that. I'm going to order it now thanks
Miss Garnet's Angel by Salley Vickers is my all time favourite book.
I agree about The Book Thief. I have recently read Life after Life by Kate Atkinson which I highly recommend
For something a bit different, Louis de berniere, the trilogy which begins with The War of Don Emmanuel's Nether Parts. I never tire of reading them even though they were written in 1990.
