@Debs mentioned today the power of LinkedIn helping with her new job (which sounds amazing)
I am also on Linked in, and suspect quite a few of you are as well. I'm pretty careful about divulging too much on a public forum (though occasionally I get carried away!), but wonder if there's any merit in linking with each other at all.

Probably not, as we can all DM each other anyway.
Just a thought... I'll get me coat....

I use LinkedIn for work and only connect with folk I know or work with. My full CV is there and I've had a fair bit of success when I was freelance in getting work through it.
I use Facebook and the like for fun and don't have FB friends who are colleagues. Keep them very separate. Means I can rant and snivel and be a horror and the folk reading it know it's me! we've had a few incidents of FB comments that aren't the wisest or most diplomatic if clients saw them. Think you have to be very careful about this online profile thing.
Love this forum though and feel quite comfortable on it. Although I'm still fairly cagey ;)

Same as @janeg, I keep them separate. I also closed my FB account as I kept getting friend requests from colleagues which I thought was a bit odd to be honest and I don't want my work colleagues stalking my private life

Actually that holds true for me, but as I don't have any work colleagues any more, the line is a little more blurred.

I also use Twitter and am sad to say my Klout is in the high 40's!!

I use Linkedin extensively Penny and have a full profile; it has definitely helped me with work. I only use it for work though, and have FB for personal, where I am very careful about who I invite.
