Got this idea from @Ballerina who said..

"I met Martin Johnson once, very rude....him, not me

Ballerina x "

I read on another website that someone gave Elton John a cheery wave at a football match and he raised his eyebrows and shook his head as if irritated!
My friend has been snubbed twice..once by a singer in a 60s band..who told her to eff off when she said hello..and by a member of REM who glared at her when she noticed him on holiday and had the temerity to give him a little smile!

Another friend, again back in the 60s,at a concert, went to great lengths to get backstage to ask the band (The Herd) to wish me a Happy Birthday and was told very abruptly to eff off!

Hopefully someone has happier tales to tell?

Ohhh nearly forgot,my daughter asked Paul Mc Cartney to pose for a pic with her,and he did, but looks pretty grumpy on the photo!
I haven't actually met anyone famous but when I lived in Brighton years ago I saw an actor who I liked when I was shopping for a birthday present. I can't even remember his name now but I did admire him at the time. The weather was appalling and I was very wet (no umbrella or hat), and this actor looked at me with a sneer - the best sneer that I've ever seen on stage or TV but it was directed at me because I looked bedraggled. You can imagine how that made me feel, I wanted the earth to swallow me up, I couldn't get out of that shop fast enough.
Celebrities - you can keep them!
Big Daddy the wrestler. We were in Sydney, Australia, waiting to board our ship back to England (after 4 years down under) and we were walking down a back alleyway with my parents when Big Daddy and some of the other famous wrestlers came out of a gym. Big daddy went down on one knee to bring him to our height (10 yrs and 8 yrs old) and allowed my Dad to take a photo of myself and my sister with him. Plus he gave my dad his autograph. So they aren't all bad.
I've met some 'sleb chefs' who believe in their own publicity and some who are very modest and pleasant (I supply such a TV chef in Wales!)

Elton john's father used to live opposite Mum & Dad. They were quite friendly, but never met the famous son!

Not very many famous people in the depths of Wales!
Tilda Swinton lives in our town and when she is out and about on her own she is really down to earth - shops in Sainsbury's and has been in the shop I work in but when she has her cronies with her she is a bit of a lovey, da'ling, gushing person.
Stuart Murdoch of Belle and Sebastian is lovely lovely lovely.
I used to live down the street to one of the hairy bikers, he was so lovely and I got on really well with his sons too.

I used to live in the North West (uni & first graduate job) and I became good friends with quite a few footballers for the big clubs but since I moved (even further) back up North in July, I've barely heard or seen from them. Feeling very snubbed!!
Dawn French, lovely, Jenny Pitman, lovely, Clarissa DW, fabulous, John Mc & the team at Ch 4 racing, fab, Willy Carson, ditto, Ian Botham, rude, Paxman - sarcastic.
I have spotted or bumped into quite a few famous folks. I really should do a list! I always think I know them from somewhere because they are out of context, end up smiling, and they generally smile back. The funniest one was David Hasselhoff many years ago on a flight to LA. Certainly everyone knew he was there  .

However the only sort of 'real' interaction I had was with Phil Spencer, he of Relocation Relocation. He smiled at me first, so I thought 'OMG, I know you but don't know where from'. So said "hi, how are you doing" and he replied. It was a bit surreal really.

Last Friday, I sat next to Tom Wilkinson for an hour or so at the US Embassy, but he was talking to a friend and a bit grumpy for having to queue with the rest of us, so no interaction.

One person who I got the impression was a really nice bloke was Eddie Izzard, in the bar at Harvey Nicks. I sat next to him, he was with a friend, and he seemed so lovely (and he did the smiley thing again too  )
Theo Paphitis, erstwhile Dragons' den inmate, is really lovely and down to earth too.
I meet quite a few Nobel Prize winners in my job. They are almost invariably humble and kind, interesting people.
Met Take That's Mark Owen in 1994 and he was reaaaaaaaally nice (I wanted to name my future son Mark after meeting him)

Duran Duran's John Taylor, in Paris in 2004, I was shacking like a leaf and he was lovely and patient with the mute woman in front of him. I felt silly afterwards
I have met some sports people (Mom's neighbor played baseball with Detroit Tigers a ways back) and some News anchors and actors(lived in the condo's that my late-husband used to look after) very nice people but probably more so because I was invited and it was their home. Otherwise, I'm quite clueless when it comes to famous people. I might see them but have no idea where or why they look familiar.
Hi @manderley. Sometimes its a small world. My hairdressers cousin is married to Mark Owen..... On the Take That front, I did not meet, but sat next to Howard Donald in a restaurant in Spain once. He was extremely good looking
Like you , wldmissus, I've met Tilda S. too . The only thing we have in common with her is that she spends a fortnight every Easter on the same small Scottish island as ourselves. ( She owns a house there). We usually arrive and depart on the same ferry as her ; she tends to sit in the bar with her head buried in her laptop. We occasionally bump into her with her family , usually heading for far-flung deserted beaches and family picnics. She always says "hi" but we don't engage in conversation. I suppose the attraction of the island for her is the fact that folks don't fuss her or queue up for autographs or ask to be photographed with her . . . . . ! ! ! (Incidentally , it's nice to see her wearing ancient sweaters and old jeans just like the rest of us - though hers probably have designer labels !!!!)
