Hi all Forumites - just thought I would ask you lot about this, as I know you all like the good things in life, and are bound to have some ideas ...

Taking my Mum on a respite break (from caring for my Dad) in late April or early May, and looking for a suitable place - small hotel or a really nice top notch b and b. Got to be within a couple of hours drive of West Yorkshire ... Could do Lakes, Cheshire, Peak District, possibly North Wales, as well as God's own county ...

Over to you. All suggestions gratefully received.
It's fabulous here, @silverdarling

The Hayloft restaurant is in the Good Food Guide, too. Close enough to Llandudno for a spot of shopping.

Or this award winning beaut in Llandudno itself

I'm sure you'll get lots of suggestions for a break with your mum!
Thanks for these PFT - Mum does like North Wales - coming from Stockport (that's 'Stockport Cheshire'    ) North Wales was always the go-to place for any time off (either there or Southport    )
Of course, Stockport is ALWAYS referred to as Stockport, Cheshire, by the cognoscenti, even though it seems to have slipped into another county - Greater Manchester?
Anyway, do let me know if you chose to come here and, hopefully, we can get together!
We stayed here Rothay Garth

Rothay Road, Ambleside, LA22 0EE in Ambleside. Breakfast was good.
This place is great. The food is fantastic as well. As far as possible the food is either grown on the farm itself or locally and all sourced to be organic too. Their lamb lush. Its in the Denbigh region of North Wales so not to deep into Wales.

There was a post last year on the forum by Honeybee27 about a b&b in Richmond that looked really nice - Cordilleras House. I have it on my list of places to stay sometime.
