Another alternative in the UK to a cruise is to hire a narrow boat and go at your own pace around canal network of the UK. Or hire a wider boat and travel the Norfolk Broads. We have seen some wonderful sites whilst cruising at 4mph (maximum speed). Just type in narrow boat holidays.

Glad you had such a good time!! I'm glad you were able to take the cruise with a grain of salt, as they say. I don't know that I would have had such good humor about all of the insanity!!
My only friend who likes cruising is so fat that she actually has no idea what she weighs - her whole family is obese and they cruise because of the buffets. It's a little scary actually.
Hey, hubby's going to be in your neck of the woods this month. He flies to Sydney on the 20th, then over to Wellington (via Auckland, I think, or vice versa). Then he's got a couple of days in Adelaide and Melbourne before finishing the trip in Sydney. He's going to get all of your Australian wind farms in good working order, I guess

Canada is wonderful and whale watching and wildlife is par excellence. We did a P n O cruise to the fjords, which we liked, but wouldn't repeat. A lot of stuffed shirts on board. Luckily, we were with a fun table for dinner. Now prefer solitude with hub and dogs in remote fields in Wales. Thanks Debs for the great account, which I probably enjoyed more than the experience (I lie like a cheap watch)
