I've just scoffed a small individual gluten free Christmas pudding.
Delightful.

OMG @Debs, that is freakin' GORGEOUS

@Wildmissus - maybe you can introduce this yank to a cream slice in July  I have no idea what that is, but I'm willing to learn
@Tracieknits - google cream slice and look at images. Also known as vanilla or custard slice, or mille feulle. The british version usually has cream or vanilla custard, between thin sweet pastry like filo pastry, and topped with icing. Lots of variations though!
@SilverDarling and @Tracieknits : Most of these look like what we call Napoleons https://www.google.com/search?q=napoleo ... CAYQ_AUoAQ

Yummy no matter what you call them
Thank you ladies - @Silverdarling and @Marybeth! Ah yes, I know what a mille-feuille is. I have been tasting my way across Paris' patisseries for a few years now >.< Cream slice does sound like a sensible name for it.
@madcatlady, I can assure you it tasted nothing like it though
Confess it hadn't occured to me, but better I find that out now then at the time!!!!!!! I shall post another and wait for your considered opinion
