Not being a domesticated type, I see I am late to the party again here ... will be getting a (small handheld) steam cleaner delivered tomorrow, ready for a weekend's try out at Casa Silverdarling ... I'm sure you have all had one (or two!) for simply aaaaages (one of my colleagues said she'd got three - bit excessive, I thought  )------

So! What do you think of them - advice / experiences / disasters (hope not!) / suggestions how to use / what on, etc etc ...
I have two! Yes, two! A handheld and a floor jobbie. Brilliant beasts!
Hi SD, I used to have a steam mop, loved it until it died and leaked all over the place. It was really good on timber floors. Not sure about steam cleaners, keep us posted on your exciting cleaning.
I think I must have got a duff one - mine doesn't seem to clean like they do in the ads at all :(
Er ... Never steam cleaned either. Thought you needed wooden floors to be allowed one?
 Love mine @Silverdarling Floor cleaning steam mop brilliant that can also be used as hand held version with different attachments also very good on windows, wall tiles and around the taps wouldn't be without mine.
I've also got a small hand held garment steamer that is very good with difficult to iron items.
Love my food steamer this is my 5th one and by far the best tough and sturdy. Rosemary Conley.

Me too
I have a floor steam cleaner and I love it. So much easier than a mop.
Think I might trade up to a supermodel with handheld attachments. :-)
I love my steam mop as we have all wooden or tiled floors downstairs. I used to have a hand held steam cleaner that I used in the bathroom but I found it a nuisance to use so gave it away.

My absolute favourite cleaning machine is my Dyson digital slim vacuum cleaner. Can't recommend it highly enough - I use it everywhere in the house. It's powerful and very convenient with its tools.
Sounds like most of you like them, and they are a good buy on the whole. Thought I'd get a handheld one, as really only have smallish kitchen floor, so not particularly bothered about that - and really wanted it to clean bathroom - tiles, shower, grouting, also surfaces in kitchen, glass, possibly try it on venetians (blinds girls blinds!) - hoping it will make all those jobs I hate to do that little bit easier.
