Hum, I've read a lot about soy as I am vegan and so do eat it in moderation, and the majority of the studies I have read on asian women eating and drinking soy products daily has shown that soy is safe...also here in France it only seems to come in the organic GMO free variety so I think that takes care of some of the issues.
From what I remember from my research a lot of the issues are down to food manufacturers putting soy all over the place into all kinds of foods to pad them out and be able to label them as 'healthy' so the issues were more with the soya quality, the sudden increase and the 'healthy' label than with soya itself, which has been enjoyed daily in many cultures where things like heart disease levels and cancer levels are low.
As far as the author's claim that soy is high in phytochemicals, so are lots of vegetables, grains, beans, nuts...yes ideally they should be soaked to get rid of the phytates etc, but personally I don't see that as a valid reason for saying that soy is bad for your health.
Otherwise I'm in the moderation camp with Izzy, no matter what you do and what you eat there is some research somewhere to tell you that you are ruining your health, so I do what feels right for me and try not to eat too much of any processed foods.

I have never knowingly eaten it, not because I think it is bad but it just has never appealed to me as something I'd wish to eat. Like Izzy, I'm of the moderation in all things camp and like her I just try to eat as healthily as possible. The occasional pie, chocolate, pizza etc are acceptable in my view otherwise you risk turning yourself into some sort of conscious uncoupling mad person.....mmmmmm!!! Be happy, enjoy the foods you love, have a glass of wine with loved ones and if that all fails then buy yourself some industrial strength knickers and have another glass of wine, cheers,

I read a long time ago that soy was bad for you, particularly if it had been genetically modified, so I stopped eating/drinking it in any form. I don't miss it.
I also read somewhere that given to young boys the oestrogen effects could be detrimental to their development as males...but how much truth there was in that I have no idea.

Moderation in all things including moderation in moderation!
@izzy i agree with the feeling confused and exhausted ! Me too so have given up and just try to eat wholesome nourishing foods most of the time and naughty stuff sometimes
Dont think soy has figured largely in my diet..i know i recently had to throw an almost full bottle out coz it was well past sell by date
