Support the 5:2 Diet Forum
29 Sep 2013, 07:52
I've been here for a couple of weeks now and have seen the button to support the forum and thought it was asking for money from me. Now I clicked on it today because I really like the forum and decided it'd be a good idea to support it by possibly paying a subscription etc.
I can't believe its just buying stuff from websites through your links.
Even better.........Quidco is one of your links!!! I found Quidco a few weeks ago and have £12 waiting to be paid to me in discounts.
I am happy to support the site by clicking the links, but the fact I can still collect my Quidco cash is a win win situation!
Every time I come on this forum I like it more than last time.
I do wish I'd known that supporting you was by doing even more shopping
You guys are fab!

I'm not aiming to lose much more weight, possibly another half stone. I know that will only take me down to a BMI of 27ish. But we'll see how I feel when I get there lol
I got down to under BMI under 25, 9 years ago and looking back at the photos, I looked older then than I do now! At 40 I don't want to look any older lol  Plus, both my OH and my sister have said I looked ill then :frown:
I'm just going to judge by what I see in the mirror! :like:
Which means I can do a bit of shopping now
Kx

Brilliant idea Karen I know you've done so well but even that half stone may take you down another size
Like you I'm not aiming for an ideal weight as in all the books and charts
My main goal is 12 stone ( 4 more to go !!! ) but I'm already showing signs of baggy skin which is working but I won't swap it for the Fat
I'm now looking into different exercises to try and help with this problem.
Also thinking of a gym membership in the new year, every little help because I know I won't get the help at the end which I think I'll deserve from my GP. enjoy the links :clover: Sue. :clover:

I've come down from 15st 6lb and at 5'4" I was squeezing into a size 20. As I've lost most of the weight really slowly and been walking, cycling and going to the pool, I've not got loads of loose skin (which is a miracle in itself!) I'm now 11st11lb and a size 12-14. At my age and with my life, I am happy with this. Last year I did go to gp who gave me a referral to the gym (still had to pay, but got loads of support from the staff) in some areas they can give a prescription to slim which means the gym or exercise classes are free! I didn't stick with the gym as I could only use the treadmill, cross trainer and exercise bike. Due to injuries, I couldn't do weights or other equipment, so I took the plunge. I stopped the gym. I started walking. I started cycling (yes I started off with an electric bike, but I did have to pedal as it just increased the power I was putting into it!) and I bought a cross trainer off eBay. The cross trainer is great for when the weather is grotty and I don't fancy going out in it. After I'd lost 2stone I started to go to the pool. I struggle to swim, but I walk across the pool and do a few widths. All of this has toned as I've gone along. It's worth doing something as you go, rather than become overwhelmed at dealing with it all at once.
You are doing fab sue :like: and it would be great if your gp will give you the support you deserve. It's worth a try and you never know until you ask

Hi Karen well I was walking on each of my fastdays = 3. doing about
5 miles each time but this last 3 weeks I've not done much at all
So I do need to put that right from now.
Also thought I would approach my GP but think its to soon for that as I'm not even half way there yet but yes was going to try at least because I can't afford to go private have just taken a look at 3 procedures.
Think I could get the nurse on side when I see her Feb.
My neighbour has a spinning bike that I could use and also a powerplate
so they may help along with weights at gym, but it is now getting really bad , to many years wasted yo yo dieting then all my massive weight gain, I really think surgery is the only answer unfortunately.
Thanks for all your advise and will fill you in as things progress.
Sue x

Hi sue, I'd speak to the gp now. He will be able to see your commitment to your weightloss, but tell him of you worries about the loose skin and see what he suggests. Good luck x
