Today is binge day
15 May 2014, 14:09
.... and it's a first !

I know what you'll say, "it's no problem, you need to gain weight" but that kind of behaviour is so not representative of my usual me that I am wondering anyway.

Today was my only fast of the week. Everything went fine until 3:00PM when I "had" to have something to eat, I had a piece of bread, cucumber and brie. Not much but, after that, I went on a kind of binge feast for 20 minutes and ate a bit of everything, sugar or salt with no order whatsoever.

It's not a failure, it only will be a 19:5 (I never eat after 8:00PM) bur it's surprising anyway.

Tonight I'll have what I would have eaten tonight, a homemade courgettes soup. I guess it's the best thing to do. What do you think ?

Sounds like a good plan Manderley. Sometimes I just HAVE to EAT but the amazing thing is that I never bust my window so I tell myself that it is fine and surprisingly it always is. Good to see you back on a regular basis x

Good plan @Manderley You've decided to make the best of a bad day and as you said 19:5 is a good comprise
and yes you do need a little more meat on your bones. Lol

I think I've only given up on a fast once. But that's not because I'm big, clever or an angel, I just sometimes think ok I've had a low day not a full fast day. If you need it sometimes you've gotta have it.

Thanks girls :like:

@Ballerina The situation, with my mother, is beginning to settle down, which is about time after all these weeks, so I have a little bit more time now to go to my usual favourite places  Give me a few days more and I will be here as often as I was before

I think I know why I HAD to eat yesterday, I learned OH has a very important health appointment this afternoon. About his eyes condition, to know if they can do something or even try something to make it go slower. As we face the perspective of him becoming blind in a few years, you can imagine how important it is and stress is definitely my thing......

I plan my next fast for tomorrow. I'll have plenty of things to do at home and outside, so no time to cook, and we have a big meal on Sunday anyway so a good way to "prepare"

Isn't it weird how we need to binge like that. And that once you start to eat something, it just escalates. Take the other day,for example, I actually said to myself (yes I talk to myself) Bean I said, Bean said I you don't need a pudding. You can watch Dexter quite easily without the need to put anything in your mouth. Cut to half an hour later and I'm there with Angel Delight (butterscotch of course) not on its own, oh no, with Maltesers hidden amongst the nectar. What was the point of telling myself i didn't need pudding?!

So, yes, bingeing is pure necessity. Every now and then we just need to splurge. As long as it IS every now and then

Quite agree, Bean....it's those naughty little voices that make us do it!

Now all I can think of is Angel Delight stuffed with hidden Maltesers! What an image that is - I totally love Maltesers....not to mention Teaser bars (family sized usually!)

Personally, I am useless at dismissing the "go on, eat it!" little voice....coz it is always so much louder than the voice of reason....

Food is one of life's great pleasures though, isn't it? At least with this WOL, there is room for indulgence if you are prepared to restrict yourself at other times. It's all about being mindful, I guess. I have spent decades eating mindlessly, with no thought for the consequences. Of course, the consequences were right in front of my eyes (or should I say "thighs!") whenever I looked in the mirror - but it is amazing how long you are able to kid yourself that you really don't look that bad......

Just having a little bit of control is so liberating....as is understanding that slip-ups are inevitable & should be forgiven......

Agree as I sit here shovelling in fish and chips like they're going out of fashion.
