Our old microwave nearly reached it's 30th birthday recently. However it is no more and I'm missing easy porridge and scrambled eggs. I hardly know where to start in finding a new one. I prefer simple, don't need extras. Any recommendations?
Just go to your local larger supermarket and pick a simple one. They're fairly disposable these days.
Agreed, we bought a 750watt Tesco Value one last year, it was less than £40, it has the dial you turn and it has a mechanical Ping. Some large dinner plates don't fit quiet, but as a basic thing it works really well.

I would just add, don't be tempted by a combi with grill and oven etc, in my experience they are way too complicated and break on day 366 of ownership!
I agree - I think I've probably got the same one as Boboff....

It's fine - really easy to use. Not so accurate for numbers of seconds, but I can count those myself. Besides, I hate messing about with digital controls. It's out of stock at the moment, but I'm sure Argos etc will have a similar model.
