While reading through the posts on here it got me thinking, between us all I bet we have been on every diet going (best named one must be'Pig to Twig'& if that name doesn't tell you their taking the 'P' then nothing will) and if the financial costs were to be added up I bet it would be shocking.
I have never kept the weight off from being on a diet advised from any 'Fat club' but I feel very positive about 5:2 I think it's common sense (eat less, lose weight)and it's not costing me anything and lets not forget the health benefits I only wish I had done this years ago because now I have to retrain my brain from all the stupid advice that has been planted there from the likes of weight watchers, who dont care if I lose weight only that I buy their products.
 ooh sorry Im starting to rant.
What a good post. I totally agree with you about all the diet clubs. Yes, I too have tried so many diets e.g Weight Watchers, Slimming World, Lighterlife, Atkins etc.
I'm sure a lot of diet clubs have fewer members now that the 5:2 has been proven by scientific evidence that it is a healthier way of eating for life. No more counting points or "syns". Eat what we want 5 days a week without guilt!

This is my 2nd week on the 5:2. Fasted yesterday after breakfast - porridge with fresh blueberries, a Benecol drink and a black coffee. Drank water and green tea all day.

I did make a sort of ratatouille for dinner, using olive oil, onion, garlic, fresh ginger, chilli, aubergine, courgette and a can of tomatoes. After 4 dessertspoons I felt full and didn't want any more :o I worked out that the whole pan of ratatouille was 230 calories! I ate less than a quarter of it so less than 60 cals!!

I actually quite liked Pig to Twig! The book was the only one my puppy ever chewed...

SW and WW worked for a while but I get bored...
My first diet was when I was 18 years old and it was 2 oranges ,2 eggs and 2 pints of milk a day. It was downhill all the way from then on. What I didn't realize then was that at 5 foot 4inch and 9 st my body was lovely. I can remember someone saying that to me and I thought they were being sarcastic. The 5 /2 has given me a much more healthy perspective on food .
It's funny how many of us thought we were fat at 18 Felixcat. Looking back we had nothing to worry about then!
I must say that I've never been to an official fat club, too mean to pay for what I know already even if I don't listen to myself. Mostly I've lost weight using self imposed 'healthy eating' maybe getting weighed with a friend each week. Every time though the weight gradually creeps on again, a familiar story I think!
Lets hope we've seen the end of all that.
Had to reply at the thinking I was at at 18,I wish I was that size now, I was a perfect use 12 then but I hope to be that size again soon enough!
