Affirmations

Prehaps its just the old hippy in me but I do love affirmations I think they really can help towards will power. Here are a few simple ones to say to yourself each day;

* I am willing to change

* I can do this

* I have the power to change my life

Hi shazzam - Just a short while ago I heard someone speaking on the radio about their attitude to certains things in life and how they were making a concerted effort to change it - in a nutshell it was something along the lines of "it's not always the situation that's wrong, but attitudes towards those situations" - I've now taken that as my personal affirmation (see below) :) - I've astounded myself by how often I say this to myself and truly alter my reaction to things in an oh so positive way. I'm sure it's an actual quote from somewhere or other and I've got the wording wrong - but I don't care - It's truly working for me ! Amazing ! :lol:

Aaron Beck and Albert Ellis based Cognitive Behavioural Thearpy (CBT) and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) on the Greek Stoics such as Epicticus who said ‘people are not disturbed by things but the view they take of them.’ You might be interested in reading 'A Guide to Rational Living" by Albert Ellis.

Thats right vino you are NOT hungry !!, but just read your post about bum cheeks and I think you may be getting ever so slightly hysterical !! :lol: ;)

Shazzam. You are so right! I was verging on histeria during the fast yesterday. Had a good giggle at everyones bum cheek comments. The good news is the bum cheeks are getting smaller! Ive had a hot cross bun this morning and a cup of coffee with milk and all is right with the world.

Yesterday I was dreaming of breakfast and thinking " tomorrow when i wake up im gonna have 3 breakfasts. Cheese on toast, cereal and an egg. At least." But not really hungry now :-)
