I met my boyfriend online. We've been together for 5 years. I'm very happy.
Like NatialieJade21, there could be a great person out there for you, but they live 40 minutes away. How else would you meet, except online?
I'm not sure if it's still free, but when I was on OkCupid it was a free site.
I didn't join to meet anyone. I joined OkCupid to take a test I had read about in the Huffington Post that had won awards. I filled out my profile in about 10 minutes, not taking it seriously. My boyfriend saw my profile, with a fuzzy picture of me, and liked that I was on a dating site, but not trying to date. We met for coffee and ended up talking for over two hours. We talked about everything you are not supposed to talk about religion, politics, past relationships. It was great!
Yes, there are plenty of crazy people on-line, just read Youtube comments! Being the digital age means if you know how to do your research you can find out if someone is lying to you. I would never meet anyone in person if I didn't confirm some basic facts they had told me. A few minutes spent searching an on-line public records database can save you a lot of hassle. Plus, here in Florida you can look up mugshots of anyone who has been arrested in Florida since 1994. My boyfriend was truthful (and he checked out), but I've looked things up so-called friends have told me only to find out they were lying.(edited for spelling)
