An interesting development in the world of aviation charging

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-22001256

I wonder if this will catch on?

Thoughts?
Was it published yesterday morning by any chance ?

Nope - definitely a 'today' story and syndicated in lots of other 'newspapers' and websites :like:
Cargo based charging for passengers, should go down well with the winners and like lead balloon with heavier people.
My thoughts are around the logistics of ticket purchasing or do you assume a given weight and then get a refund or an extra charge at check in depending on a variance
Weigh yourself like you would weigh your suitcase, then pay an extra charge if you're over the amount you've paid for ?
Sounds stupid.
Airlines shouldn't charge for overweight anyway, at least not if it comes from shopping! We're supporting the economy mister!!!
I'd be quite happy to pay extra money for them to accommodate my weight, but in return I will expect a seat that I can get my fat bum into and enough leg room for all 6' of me to sit comfortably.

They can't insist you sit in a standard seat and then make you pay non-standard pricing.
Might have to change the 5:2 to a 2:5.

Theory is good, but the reality would probably be a humiliating, stressful and inconsistent experience.
