I have a MSI laptop, I don't know what keys I hit but occasionally when I'm typing the keys lock up and I don't know what I hit or how to unlock. Only way I've been able to fix problem is to restart computer, which is an PITA when I've typed a long post and can't save it or finish it. I have resorted to just sending the incomplete post at times but it is very frustrating to have resume my train of thought when I had it so clear prior. There has to be an easier way! help! Please!

Without knowing anything about your OS or laptop type it is difficult to say.
This might help you to sort it.

What web browser are you using ? Is Java up to date - http://www.java.com/en/download/
When it locks up can you Alt + Tab to other applications or Ctrl+ Shift + Esc to the task manager ?

Thank you Simon and Phil. Oh sorry! I forgot to include it's Vista with windows explorer 9. Java up to date. Ok, I will try your suggestions when it happens again, and I'm sure it will. Seems to happen when I get enthusiastic with the subject I'm typing, so I've never been able to quite figure out what key combination I've used to lock the keyboard, lol. I think I have tried the control/alt/del before to get to task manager, if I remember correctly, I couldn't even do that.
it might just be locking up because you pressed two keys at the same time or something. I don't think there's a combo that locks the keyboard up.

I kinda thought that's what I did, just wondered if there were any particular key combos that did it and how to get out of it without having to restart computer.
Hiya,
It might be down to a feature called StickyKeys which is in Control Panel > Accessibility Options (or Ease of Access on Windows 7) it is a function intended for people with problems that make it difficult for them to hold more than one key down at once. If that is enabled then when you hold a button (eg Shift) down for too long it locks things up. I suggest you check if it is ticked in control panel.
Hope that helps

Thanks SianS but I don't have anything checked in the Ease of Access. I'll just have to pay more attention when I'm typing.
