My daughter is getting married in July and I'm giving a speech. I'm terrified of public speaking and am freaking out a bit, the thought of standing in front of 100plus people and talking while still managing to breathe and actually make sense is horrifying! The last thing I want is to be worrying about it so much that I can't enjoy her wedding - any tips/ advice please? Anyone else in a similar situation?

Well I've never had to give a speech at a wedding Lindyloo89 but I've done a lot of training over the years and know what the nerves feel like. Be prepared and practice what you want to say. If you are very nervous you may forget everything so have notes. Be yourself, if you aren't a joker now is not the time to start. As it is your daughters wedding I'm sure your speech will be straight from the heart and remember that the audience will be rooting for you. Keep it short and enjoy.
Yes, everyone tells me the audience will all be on my side...at least there won't be any heckling I suppose! Thanks for this Jed, at least I've got lots of time to prepare (and get even more nervous). It'll definitely be short!!
