TDEE

Hello,

In my tracker there is a box that says TDEE 2517 (Sedentary), I don't have a sedentary lifestyle, where do I change that?

Thanks

If you go on and read the paragraph next to it it will give you an option for a more active lifestyle :)

You don't, it's a standardised measure for comparison.

If you have additional activity you can factor that into any calculations you may be doing.

I don't understand why it is there if we can't change it. I get up at 6am, get to work at 6:30 and am on my feet operating machinery until 5pm with 2 15min breaks and 1 30min break, I don't think this is sedentary.

Moogie has kindly programmed it to work out your TDEE assuming a sedentary lifestyle, she hasn't yet done the coding for more active lifestyles. (Sedentary doesn't mean doing nothing the whole time, BTW.)

We all see the 'sedentary' TDEE in our Tracker, it's just a number, no one is trying to make any comments on your lifestyle, Phil

To the left of your TDEE box is a paragraph with the more active TDEE incorporated in it. Here is what mine says:

Based on your current age (50), height and weight your Resting Metabolic Rate* is estimated to be 1418.55. If you have a sedentary lifestyle this means you should be eating around 1703 calories on your feed days and 426-500 calories on your fast days in order to lose weight. If you have a fairly active lifestyle aim for around 2128 calories on feed days and 532 on your fasts to lose weight. Note that your body's needs change as you lose weight and it is important to adjust your calorie intake accordingly so as not to overeat. If you are currently losing weight with calorie intake different than these suggested figures then there is no reason to change!

I put the active in bold. :)

Good point Betsysgr8 I hadn't noticed that before, I wonder when it was added...

It's a standardised measure - a minimum. It's an estimate +/- 10%.

If you know you do things that lead to a higher energy expenditure then use one of many online tools to figure out your own value.

It was put here to give a single number that relates to your size and weight etc without having to refer elsewhere. In other words a starting point.
