Calling any Dukan experts...
26 May 2013, 20:10
I know that this is the 5:2 site but since many of you have tried other diets and I'm trying Dukan's attack for a couple of days, I have a couple of questions if you don't mind...
-Is it true that I can have an onion on each day of the attack?
-Can I have smoked trout during the attack?

Thanks a lot in advance!!!
Here I am.
You can have the smoked trout, be carefoul smoked fish is very salty tough.
You can eat a couple of pickled onions but I don't advise it, it's better if the attack days are as pure protein as possible.
Thanks soooooo much!!! I might bother you again in the near future! :-)
On a blog I follow a lady has post over 100 lbs on Dukan and I am sure she ate an onion most days even during attack. The blog was under her user name, Flamydwife, google it...and search back, she is maintaining now
Mmmmm before I found 5:2 I was tempted by Dukan but I wasn't sure it was sustainable for me. Also, isn't that the one where they try & get a huge amount if money off you upfront? (although I could be confusing it, I looked at so many LOL), I REALLY resented that :frown:

Having said all of the above, please let us know how you get on :clover:
Suoon, many people do eat an onion but there seems to be a debate about it. Same with surimi and smoked fish.

Annie, no need to pay the money if you don't want to. I only used the real weight calculator, it told me to start with 2 days of attack, I tried it last week, lost a kilo an decided to do it again this week. There's so much info on the net that paying the money is a bit silly, IMO.
TML13 please spare me the pain& describe 2 days of attack to me (pretty please)
Haaaaa haaaaa sure my dear!
This is an example menu:

But I'll also tell you what I ate.
Monday
Lunch: eggs with low fat cottage cheese
Snack: low fat turkey ham with with low fat cottage cheese
Dinner: surimi (imitation crab) with low fat yoghurt sauce

Tuesday
Lunch: surimi with low fat cream cheese
Snack: low fat turkey ham with low fat cottage cheese
Dinner: grilled chicken breast with low fat yoghurt sauce

Today
Lunch: surimi with low fat cream cheese
Snack: turkey ham with low fat cream cheese
Dinner: smoked trout with low fat yoghurt sauce

Tomorrow: same as Monday
Wow that's wierd !!!!

Thanks for posting your menus (the link din't work)

Looking forward to hearing the results
Annie, you can read more about this experiment here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=5245

I like what I'm eating although sometimes I do feel hungry. Still, the results are good.
Hi all!!! After plateau-ing for weeks & weeks yet again, I decided to do the dukan attack for a few days after reading this thread. I fasted Monday with just some very little lean chicken to eat (no more than 500 cals worth!) then it was just lean meat & eggs for tues and the same for today. Had a sneaky peek at scales this morning to find I'm down 2.1kg from Saturdays weigh in! That's given me a big boost! So I will fast tomorrow, again up to 500 cals and last dukan attack Friday then back to feast days & just 5:2 again. Has anyone else do this? And did all the weight you lost during the attack & 5:2 go straight back on after eating carbs again? Also, during attack days, I know you can have fat free fruit flavoured yogurt/fromage frais that's under a certain amount of carbs(sugars) & fat per 100g. Well I'm damned if I can find them! Anybody know any yogurt brands that are suitable? Thanks muchly :) xxx
I have done dukan but would not call myself an expert. Here are some thoughts for next week:

Introduce fat only. Keep your carb rate low. This is likely to stop you from ping ponging back to where you were as you have probably lost alot of water.

Fage zero fat greek yogurts are the best for dukan'ers. Make your own compote with some frozen berries cooked down (no sugar or water added), maybe a bit of vanilla, lemon juice or even cinnamon if you are feeling fancy. That is probably the lowest carb, lowest fat, lowest calorie fruit yogurt you can get with no hidden nasties.
Thank you rawkaren! That's great advice and I will watch next week. Think I will just do the carbs via veggies next week with the protein on my feast days and maybe just protein on fast days as it seems my body agrees with it (so far!) and see how I go from there. Thanks again xx
Hiya!
I lost all the weight that I couldn't lose with 5:2 by doing my version of 3:2:2 (two days of attack, one day of 500, one regular day, then another day of 500 and then 2 regular days).
After losing the weight, I did a few weeks of 5:2 in combination with 16:8 but I never quit carbs. I am currently eating whatever, whenever and I maintain my weight (I keep on losing and gaining one kilo, depending on how much I eat).
This version of 5:2 (the one with 2 days of Dukan) has no demand for not eating carbs except for the two days of the attack. It is up to you to reduce them, I wouldn't and couldn't and found no need to, to be honest. :-)
I did very well on dukan two years ago, but find 5.2 much easier and sustainable. To be honest 5.2 has taught me how to love my food, know when I'm full, know that I won't die because my tummy rumbled and make the right choices. Nice to see you back Mrs T.
