Hi Jaine, glad to hear you are feeling more positive. I hated my fast day yesterday, and admit to going to bed for a couple of hours mid-morning. That's how I cope with it sometimes when I can, and I don't give a stuff of what others think about that! Sometimes the best place to be.

Yep I am in bed now watching Jeremy Vile (where do these people come from?) with my lovely cat purring on my lap.
Hi Jaine,
I'm glad you are feeling more up. Here is my recipe for veg soup -
Open fridge
Take out any veg you can find
Chop it up
Chuck it all into a big pot with a dash of Olive oil
Add a Tin of chopped tomatoes
Make up 2 stock cubes with boiling water
Add to pot
Simmer till you can't stand the suspense any more
Attack the mixture with a hand blender
Et Voila ! comme nous dites en Kent....Soup
Re Jezza Vile - I love it cos no matter how bad I feel or look I can always watch it and think "well at least I'm not on Jeremy Vine"

Well done Jaine. You know, cooking is really only common sense, you just need to do it. The soup I make for fast days is so simple - 2 carrots, 2 sticks of celery, a leek and a stock cube. Cover with water some black pepper and boil it up, simples. Whizz it with a whizzer if you have one and don't bother if you dont, just cut your veg a bit smaller. That does me for 2 fast lunches (with 2 ryvitas). Good luck, you will do great I know, and when the weight starts coming off you will be so thankful. It all gets a lot easier, I have been 5:2ing since Sept 2012 and have lost 1.5 stones, and my husband has lost 3 stone. It has changed how I think and feel about food, eating has become much less of an obsession in my life, it is truly marvellous. And we have got the bodies back we had 30 years ago, lean and trim (though a bit more saggy in the skin - hey ho!!) xxx
Glad you're feeling a bit better & amazed you continued with fast day even when feeling so bad
And as for making the sugar free jellies - you're making me feel guilty now as I just buy them ready made

Jaine forgot to say - love your signature think I'll nick it - always wanted to be someone's wish
Jaine, just wanted to say I'm thinking about you. I posted on your MH thread and the only thing I would have said would be to force yourself out of the house but you've done that and I'm well impressed. I hope your day continues to get better and I think I shall take some of the advice others have posted!!!
Hi Jaine,
I don't know if I will be of any use to you but I will try
Love those meal ideas that TaireMaori has suggested. What could be easier than chucking some ready prepared salad onto a plate with some cherry tomatoes and a few slices of chicken or ham from a packet. You don't have to be a great cook. However I wonder if you know the authoress Marion Keyes? She has suffered badly from depression and it was baking that helped her. I have put the link here if you would like to read about her.

Now, I don't suggest that you rush off and bake loads of cakes! Given that this is a diet forum but I am thinking that you could maybe teach yourself a few cooking skills? Have a look at the BBC Good Food website, you can search by calorie count, time, ease etc. if you like I will have a look for some for you and let you know?
Please don't tuck yourself up in bed and watch daytime tv. That would make anyone feel bad! I am so glad that you are feeling a bit better this evening and wish you well. I hope I haven't offended or upset you x

Hey Jaine, glad you have got over that hump, and are back on track. I, like you don't cook. I am lucky to have a husband who is joining me with the 5:2 and does the cooking. BUT I have found some rather delicious soups in Sainsburys called "Skinny Soup". They are fresh and can even be heated in their own pot in the microwave. They have very few calories, about 200 in a pot if you check on the sides, depending on the flavour. But that would certainly fill you up if you ate a whole one. Keep your chin up chicken!
Skinny soup for me too, the easier the better on fast day. Still cook for OH though.
Big hug from me Jaine

Jaine wrote: Well you all spurred me on and I just got back from shopping. Bought veggies, fruit, crackers, low fat yogurts and a couple of my favourite innocent veg pots. Just made some no sugar jellys (see I'm even cooking now ).
Just looking at recipes in an old scrap book where I stored some I fancied making.
You lot are angels. Thank you x
Excellent choices, well done my dear!
