Apologies for absence...
19 Jun 2013, 20:22
... I didn't just join then disappear, I will be back and posting properly soon. Did my first fast on Sunday and was all excited and ready to go, then ended up rescuing a cat with five kittens from a housefire on Monday. Another cat and a dog were also saved from the fire - dog ran out when the door was kicked in and cat fled through the back window when firemen went in. I had mum and kittens out before firemen arrived.

I breathed in a massive amount of thick black smoke and am feeling rather crap as a result, but all animals are safe and well so I would do it again without hesitation.

I will be back when I feel stronger.

Thanx everyone. I'm feeling more with it today but have hardly slept since Monday so am in bed really early tonight. Sometimes when it's too quiet I can hear the smoke alarm ringing in my head which is weird as I managed to block it out at the time.

Mum cat (whose name is apparently Charlie) and kittens are with a wonderful foster carer and are recovered from their ordeal. They're still covered in soot as it's proving difficult to get it out of their fur. One of the kittens is coming to me (this was planned since before the fire) and his name is Oniki (Turkish for twelve as he'll be my twelfth cat). The other kittens are to be Smokey, Sooty, Ash and Ember. The kittens have been signed over to Cats Protection and Charlie will be returned to the owner once she's spayed. Cats Protection want to interview me and use this as a fundraising thing... photographers too, they want pics of me with Charlie & babies.

I'm planning to do a fast day tomorrow. Had food tonight at 1930 so planning not to eat until 1130 tomorrow. If I start to struggle though, I will go easy on myself as my body has already been through a lot of stress this week...
