Travelling alone?
02 Aug 2013, 09:02
I may be in the minority here, but has anyone ever travelled abroad alone & how did you find it?

I'd like to go on a solo trip for my birthday in November, I imagine it will be quite empowering. Provided I can afford it, I'm thinking I'd like to go to France somewhere and take in some culture, and pastries!

Does anyone have any experience of solo trips, such as who to book through for the best prices or anything? I'm thinking I could probably only manage a night away, I've Googled it and there's so much stuff on there I felt a little bemused! :dazed:

Any tips will be gratefully received!

This is something I wanted to do and went on about to a friend. In the end, she went on a train trip to Avignon on her own and had a lovely time.

I am off to London next week as a first outing...

I have travelled the world alone for the last 40 years. It all started when I cam e to live in Australia in 1974, then I travelled and lived/worked in London 76 77 78 all alone - my friends always wanted to travel but they spent their money - I worked 2 and 3 jobs to travel. Then living in Oz again travelled to US/UK on hols alone, NZ many times alone - once I hired a red convertible and drove through the North Island, calling in to see old school friends (& family) what fun! I have travelled to California alone twice again in the last 5 years. When you travel alone you meet lots of people. I also travelled around Australia in a motorhome...alone except for my dog 11 years ago. So yes have done heaps of travel alone. I once went to Spain with a friend and met a Spanish man...I threw away my return (to London) ticket and went home with him ;>) Lots of adventures for the adventurous
