The course isn't for me but I do think it's an excellent idea for those who need the extra help. For me it would be counterproductive as I have a tendency to rebel against 'should do'. I am very glad to hear that the wonderful forum will stay free though - I rely on the support to get me through the (far too numerous) bad times.

I think most of us who have joined this forum are self-starter go-it-alone types (at least IRL, online support much appreciated) and rebel types who gave IF a shot regardless of some of the dire warnings of some of our friends and family - heck, I do a different type of fasting from most of you guys!, so maybe we forget how much handholding some folk will need to get them started.

good point @barbarita in the world of marketing I think we are called "Early Adopters"... per google. An early adopter is a person who embraces new technology before most other people do. Early adopters tend to buy or try out new hardware items and programs, and new versions of existing programs, sooner than most of their peers.
So for the others, the extra support mechanisms initated by @Moogieand her team may be very welcome for them. And good on the team if they can find some financial reward from this initative. Commercialism is not innately a bad thing. If only I could think a way of making money from my passion and enthusiasm for this way of life. I have one but we shall see.

Well said @Juliana.Rivers I hereby apologise for my gut reaction. You are of course quite correct & I'm maybe jealous!!!!!!!
Hats off team, go for it!!
Well said JR. and Annie. Ref the early adopter thing, in the UK, 5:2 seems to be the flavour of the new year. Let's hope that it becomes even more popular when people realise that it is sustainable and that it can even save money because we eat less
I was listening to a Doctor being interviewed about 5:2 tonight on the radio and he was all for it. He said that the current obsession with food, tweeting photos and discussing it at length etc would have, years ago, been seen as an eating disorder. I had never thought of it that way before but I think he's right and I am sure that it's all down to the variety of foods in huge supermarkets. It only serves to make us want it all and spend more money when in reality we only need a small selection.
I hope that we get lots of nervous newbies joining the program and then sticking around on the forum, gaining in confidence. The more the merrier

Thanks for your positive note.. and yeah, we are a bit obsessive about food but I think that's ok if its "real food". I have a food blog in the shape of a facebook page and I photograph just about ever dish I make which is a bit weird I know and maybe one day I will stop. What I do try and avoid is packaged food or pre-made dinners. Having said that Im about to go out to get a Tandoori paste for dinner so its difficult with being time poor of totally removing oneself from processed food. I recall once saying this on the forum and many people defending processed food and honestly it's fine as long as you balance it with the natural / real stuff.

I had the opportunity to participate in the FastStart Beta Program this past November and December as part of the North American group. It was a great experience and I am most grateful for the opportunity!
I tried fasting on my own a year or so ago, and just didn't have the fortitude to go it alone. While the program was in beta mode, it was obvious considerable effort went into putting together a comprehensive program.
The FastStart Program is well structured, with a supportive and encouraging leader, suggested weekly readings, and daily emails of encouragement. All of this makes getting started so much easier. Now that the group program is over (for me), I am pleased to be able to continue to connect with other fasters on this forum as I continue with intermittent fasting.
I highly recommend the program for anyone who wants to try IF but is intimidated by the idea.
Thanks again to the FastDay team.

Thank you @MaryC. Fantastic positive review and very encouraging.
Hello, this is my first post although I joined the forum last year. I am very interested in the plan being offered because despite a lifetime of dieting I now have diabetes type 2 and take insulin alongside many other prescribed medications for a variety of health conditions. Therefore this plan being offered would be of a great help to me but because of the foregoing, mainly the insulin, it is not straightforward for me to sign up as I need to get my GPs permission. I think the cost involved is extremely reasonable and I look forward to being able to join at some later date .
