Does anyone know of a vegetarian book for my fasting days on the 5:2 diet? I'm running out of ideas!

Sorry, I don't know of a veggie recipe book either, but I came up with this the other night and it was absolutely delicious (if I do say so myself! ) and you can easily make it vegetarian by leaving out the pancetta. I'm sure it would be just as tasty. http://fastdays.wordpress.com/2013/04/1 ... tte-pasta/

Hi 12345678let

You don't need a book - all the recipes you'll ever need are available online.

Here's a Mumsnet 5:2 recipe thread with lots of veggie recipes:

And I'm vegan, and all the recipes on my blog are vegetarian - with most of them being vegan. Here's one to start you off:

HTH!

Thank you very much for the links. I am looking into them and have seen some really good ones including the ones you've given me, but I would still like to get a book because that way I can have a number of recipes in one place. If I have to print ones off the net I end up with lots of bits of loose paper in the the kitchen! Have just noticed a vegetarian 5:2 recipe book by someone called Belinda Price. Has anyone read it? Is it worth getting?

Buy a three ring binder, get page protectors, and make your own cookbook. That's what I do and it makes it easy to pull one recipe out and keeps them clean when you cook.

Love the interwebs for recipes and also love flicking through a proper book.
I love Indian food, hate tomatoes and lots of Indian food hits the spot for me- Madhur Jaffrey did one years ago which was amazing. Don't know if it's still available though.
I have a browse in Amazon and see what takes my fancy. Plenty out there- that's maybe the problem!

The fast diet recipe book itself has quite a few veggie recipes. Plenty of soups and salads to go at, plus things like dal. Keeping the calorie count below 500 is often easier if you go vegetarian, so that's why they've got so many suitable recipes in there.

Love the blog, imcountingufoz! The aubergine and courgette gratin looks lush.

I've just started the 5:2 diet and I'm a vegetarian. I also saw that there weren't many recipes about that I could go to for veggies... so have started a blog (I also reckon that writing my experiences down will encourage me to keep going on the diet too).

So I've started up the Fast Vegetarian blog, only two recipes so far but they might be a help 12345678let:

Middle Eastern Aubergine: http://fastvegetarian.blogspot.co.uk/20 ... yummy.html

Smokey Bean Chilli: http://fastvegetarian.blogspot.co.uk/20 ... heavy.html

Nice work...that looks fabulous. Have no idea what gas mark 6 might mean....could you translate that to a temperature reading? Thanks!

It's around 190-200C, tompan. I bake bread at 220C, gas mark 7, and I think the gas marks come down in 20C intervals.

I have changed the name of my blog so not sure the above links will work. Since I'm only fasting for 2/7 of the week I figured it was better to have a wider range of recipes on there and "Fast Vegetarian" didn't really work anymore.

It's now "Big Cook... Tiny Kitchen" and the web address is:

http://bigcooktinykitchen.blogspot.co.uk/

So far only 3 recipes but I'll be adding more this week.

Stokerface - Thank you for the recipes on your blog. It is as though you've written them just for me! Some of my favourite ingredients, preserved lemons, sumac, cumin, chilli yum! I'm not a vegetarian but I eat a lot of veggie food and I love these recipes. Keep them coming
