Hey everyone,

I've been racking my brains to try and come up with what I should do for my boyfriend's 30th? It's not til June but I was thinking of taking him away or something. I've just got no ideas where?! His birthday is the 6th. I'm a teacher and he's doing his PGCE so we have very little time, but his birthday is on the Friday so I was thinking the weekend.

I live in Newcastle and he lives near York and that's where I was initially thinking but I worry it'll be too boring as we go regularly-usually getting the last train back however.

If anyone has any suggestions of places they've stayed and hopefully at a good price I'll be very much appreciative. It doesn't have to be York, I'm literally the worst person ever at these sorts of things!

Great idea to have a weekend away! Can you give us an idea of the kinds of things he likes doing? City boy or countryside lover? Outdoor activities or city sights? Going to the pub or fine dining? Then we can think if we know anywhere that sounds like it would offer the right kinds of things!

Bamburgh in Northumberland is pretty romantic with Holy Island and the beach and castle, even at this time of year it's nice. Trip Advisor might have some hotel reccomendations.

Hey all, sorry for the huge wait for a response! I've not been very active recently!

He's a country lover, he's grown up in the countryside (as have I) and he likes doing things like walking and sports. Yes @caitlin!!! Bamburgh is somewhere I adore-we used to go regularly when I was little as it's not too far from us! That could be a great shout!

I was also thinking of getting him a watch as I absolutely hate his (clunky Casio one)! He's retraining to be a teacher this year so I think a lovely watch could be a sort of joint thing-also with it being a big birthday I want something he can be like "oh I got that for my 30th" sort of thing.
