Buying clothes
08 Jan 2014, 12:49
OK it's me again, but I have to vent a wee bit. Went to to fav store to see if I could find something new to cloth this shrinking body of mine with. Found a pair of black dress trousers in my size, a black cotton jersey jacket (you know the dressy kind that looks like a more formal jacket) and a sleeveless lace top in black too. In size L. Didn't dare to go down to M. Asked if they had it in any other colors and it came in cream too. Great, size 44 (euro) I said, forgetting that the black one was L. And here is what galls me - the SA said: XL then. Since when is 44 XL?? When I was the fattest I had XXL and that was absolutely not 46..... So I said I want an L and she said - that's 40 then.

Here you might ask when I didn't try them on in the store, but I have this thing about changing cubicles - gaaaahhhhhh, my self esteem kind of pols round me feet.

But isn't it strange how they make large sizes smaller? Nobody with L can fit into a size 40 (European size)??? Will try them on later and see how they fit.

I always go to shops that cut the clothes a bit 'roomier' so their UK size 20 is more like a trend setting shops 24. It makes their customers feel better to be able to say I'm *only* a size 20.

Are you talking about Zara? Because their sizes are STUPID.

Best wishes xx

arghghgh, sizing is awful!
I couldn't buy clothes in Hong Kong- a UK 12 I was and the tiny sales assistants would giggle and say they didn't have fat clothes. My poor Beloved (all 2m of him) had a shocking time too.
Even now, I will just NOT buy/wear anything labelled as L or XL.
I don't have many clothes...

Oh no, it's a chain store here in Sweden called BEA Axelssons. Full of clothes for us mature women  , but at times the most awful colors

Haha! Oh I see!

Stupid shops - different size in every one!

On the topic of clothes - does anyone else feel that, having been 'big', they tend to be more interested in buyings shoes and accessories, rather than clothes - because of this very reason?!
