Possibly, but as long as I feel clean and doesn't smell, why bother about dead cells and grease no one can detect without using some CSI equipment? People got along with cold water for a long time before this day and age.

Because you will feel the consequences in the future and it won't be very easy to get rid off them.
Yes, people did get along with cold water but when they did they didn't notice black spots and dandruff and greasy hair and they didn't have sex for pleasure.
You might not smell after one shower but if you keep on not cleaning yourself properly for a long time then you might as well do smell. Especially in hairy parts of your body, or where you sweat the most.
Mind you, one of the reasons we want our bodies clean of dead cells is because they bloke our pores and the toxins don't have an easy way out.

Possibly, I'll try it for while and see what happens. Using some hot water and soap after the cold shower session shouldn't be a problem.
I still think that warm-then-cold is better for the skin. No reason to try and clean blocked pores from the cold... it just won't happen.
To be more specific: for cleanliness, you need to have open pores. You do that with warm water. You clean them and then you use cold water to close the pores and keep the dirt out. Plus, it is firming.
Managed 1 minute yesterday - was going to give up after 30 secs, but, after calling myself a wimp, went for the full 60 seconds.
This morning I surprised myself by going straight through to 2 minutes! <patonthebacktime>
However, I'm not sure the water is as cold as it might be, since I have an electric shower with lots of controls, and I'm not sure there isn't some residual heat being applied.
Winter, when it comes, will sort that out!
About cleanliness, I have to say I'm with Michael on this -
Wow! Few sweeping statements there! For all we know, black spots, dandruff and greasy hair are all modern phenomena. About when we began to have sex for pleasure, that's a whole different discussion - perhaps you'd like to start one, TML?
But in the meantime, look up 'Bonobos'. If nothing else it'll put a smile on your face!
About Todd Becker's blog, Michael - I still haven't read all of it, but everything I've read on there makes a lot of sense to me.

And how do we know when black spots etc appeared???
Well, if one can exfoliate without water then good for them!
Oh, yikes, I didn't get that! True, many people don't clean their face, body, clothes but hopefully we don't have any of them in here, LOL!
I agree that we don't need hot water but I believe that we need warm or at least lukewarm. I've had my fair share of summers with no hot water and I don't think that my hair was ever clean.

On the subject of clean hair, in Sydney a few years back there was an urge to stop people using shampoo at all
from one of the articles online
What's the theory?
The theory is that shampoo actually destroys the balance of your hair's natural oils. The cycle might go this way: your hair produces natural oils, and after a few days, starts to feels greasy, oily and dirty. So, you wash your hair with detergent, which strips away the grease.
But, as the grease is natural, your hair and head start to fight back by producing more to compensate for the loss, so you wash your hair again. And so on.
But what happens if you don't shampoo your hair? Well, the theory says that your hair will get more oily, greasy and smelly, but after six weeks it will become sweeter smelling, bouncy, the natural balance will have been restored. It will even look more attractive, more sexy and wonderful than every before!

At the end of a "challenge" run by a radio station it concluded
From the results, it's pretty clear that those who have undertaken the challenge and voted believe their hair is at least as good - if not better - than when they were using shampoo.

I have a friend who had a friend who did that. Notice the past tense?
I couldnt do it either. but then i have long hair.
My hair is too thick to not wash. Just the though of not washing my hair is yucky.
The only place I have ever taken a cold plunge was at the http://www.bozemanhotsprings.co/. You get into a large hot tubs, which are incrementally hotter. After you are acclimated the hottest tub 41C you plunge into the cold tub 15C. It actually feels quite wonderful.
However, after a vigorous workout, I'll turn the shower colder just to cool down my core temperature.

All I can think, is that this morning I had to scrape ice off my windscreen...what the???!! If I'd had a cold shower I'm sure there would be icicles hanging off me like the cartoons ;>) Don't mind a cold shower in summer tho
Pierre Dukan really advocates using cold as a way to burn calories. Calorie-burning occurs partly when our body is trying to keep us warm, so cold showers will inevitably burn more calories than warm showers. He even advocates eating ice cubes with a bit of squeezed lemon and taking one layer off in winter. Makes sense to me.
Regarding skin, I think we possibly wash too much anyway. I had a boyfriend with tons of acne in my 20s and I advised him to stop washing his face several times a day (he was obsessed with having an oil-free face, convinced that oil was the source of the problem). He started washing once a day only, with much less aggressive soaps. His acne reduced within a few days. Then we tried not washing his hair daily (he had lovely short hair, not greasy at all) but every two or 3 days, and the acne on his face and back totally disappeared. He realised the over-washing had partly caused the problem in the first place.
