Oh lordy, I hardly dared open this forum this morning. I don't want to open a can of worms here. Moogie has put such a lot of effort into this and I don't want to be the bah humbug sort of person, so it really is down to your personal choice.

Sorry that I've stated mine rather publically. Sorry tweeps, I'll shut up now.
Penny you ought t be able to voice your reservations and feel comfortable about doing so, all of this will work itself out for the best you will see
I agree with your sentiments Penny but you have expressed it better than I could. As a fellow January oldie & in during the early stages the many people on this forum have been so supportive & caring that it feels rather divisive to make a selection of a few. I still have a long weight journey next year but want to cheer on & applaud everyone who has taken part in 5:2ing & with sharing their experiences throughout this past year :like: :like: :like:
I hope you all have a very enjoyable & guilt free Christmas because we all know how to cope now don't we??
My view differs from many forum members in that I quite enjoyed nominating people and seconding others.

I try to contribute but compared to some of you it's not much. Often I like to read and thank people but I might be too tired, am too comfortable in bed reading my tablet, or too rushed to take the time for an adequate response. However some of you are ALWAYS welcoming a newbie with gusto or encouraging me and others not to feel despondent about lack of loss or worse, gaining weight. Some of you are VERY patient in explaining why this is happening, even though that question has been asked before. Others make me laugh (A LOT) and see the funny side of diets, food and life. That's how I see these 'awards'; an acknowledgement of your extra effort.

I don't care so much about the voting process but I would like to acknowledge why you are nominated. This is a pretty special forum thanks to you.

Great post Penny!

and I agree with everything too :-)
@PennyForthem

Well said Penny and much better written than I would put :like:

I too have opted out
Don't worry @PennyForthem you gave us all a platform for debate!
I feel sure Moogie wont mind either coz i' m sure all of us appreciate her setting this poll up.
I was all for it at first and thoroughly enjoyed it,but then my feelgood factor faded coz as @gillymary said, i started thinking would anyone be disappointed to be nominated but not chosen/ not nominated/ not voted for..etc
Thats why i posted the thing about self esteem and valuing yrself ...with the pic of the little cat seeing a big lion in the mirror..
Weight issues and health probs can make some folk lose confidence and none of us want to see that happen on here
Sorry to go on..Note to self..shorter posts in New Year x i need lessons from @Merlin..
I love how she keeps things succinct and concise!
@CandiceMarie I am such a slow typist that being brief is my best option.
... this is indeed all a quandry.....
 Yes a quandary indeed@Suchard007
I said yesterday the awards were "doing my head in" because Iwanted to vote + second everyone
which is so true

But as @rawkaren stated moogie has done a lot of work on this idea which I believe was someone else's at the time and both meant it as as a bit of fun plus as a way of celebrating the first birthday of this forum so that said I will be voting for fun coz that's what it was meant to be  Sue

Na! This is democracy at its best, we are all free to express opinions, vote, not vote, ignore the whole thing and have a glass of wine instead, all without guilt or censure, now, how good is that?

Oh dear, it was never my intention to upset anyone or cause a sense of competition, just a bit of fun and a way of showing appreciation for folks here, some community spirit. I thought by taking the focus away from weight loss achievements and having a broad range of categories it would be quite nice. I wish I'd realised sooner that so many people were against it. Perhaps we should do away with the whole thing and have something else to celebrate the anniversary? Suggestions welcome :)
Dear @Moogie it wasn't my intention to cause such deliberations. Just to say how I felt.
Please, don't cancel the nominations. There are many, many, here who deserve recognition and should receive it. I just felt it's not right for me to vote, as I really can't chose one person in many of the categories.

Above all, Moogie, you deserve the recognition for starting this whole thing.
And all of you, vote away to your heart's content and I'll shut up now xxx
Moogie, it was a lovely thought and it would be a shame to not go ahead with it but if you feel that the majority would prefer that then so be it BUT, as I said above, we all have the choice to participate or not. Please do not feel bad about wanting to make others feel better about themselves, that is a lovely quality to have and I'm sure lots of the members are more than happy to continue, it is, as everyone says, just a little bit of harmless, seasonal fun.
