It was good. Straight to the point, no messing.

I am going to return to this thread whenever I need a decluttering kick up the rear, so thanks to you all x

Accustomed as i am to saying something different to the rest it seems, I think if there's a few nice outfits of sentimental value, and there is a bit of room in the wardrobe, keep.. just a few mind you. I have a few like that. That leather skirt circa 1980s.. hmmm just cant part with it. Oh and that quite worn 30 year old jumper that I actually wore and someone admired.

I know you "cant take it with you to heaven" but hey even more reason that if you touch it and admire it every now and then ... keep.

Lol, thank you Juliana. I have that very skirt in my wardrobe too!!! I will never get into it again but yes, I do look at it from time to time and remember the parties I wore it to. I certainly won't be parting with it. I volunteer for charity events and am always given a t shirt to wear. I can't part with those either, although I will never wear them. Thanks for that post, made me smile to know I'm not the only one!

This is a process I am currently going through! I have lived in this building site for nearly five years now with many things still in boxes! I have too much 'stuff' clothes included. I am slowly letting it go but it is hard. As my size changes I will turf out what is too big.

Thanks Bob. Maybe we could team up and set ourselves mini challenges as support? I never throw anything out just in case and consequently have buried a lot of treasure.

Having lost a stone and a half, unlike some of you lucky people who drop two dress sizes, all my clothes still fit - they are just not so tight! My wardrobe still needs de-cluttering because there are all sorts of things lurking in there which I don't wear any more. I don't hang on to them for sentimental reasons - just idleness on my part! Perhaps if we have a rainy day, I'll make a start, otherwise it's the garden for me today!

Just seen @Bobshouse's post and I'm going to find an item to re-home too! Come on @Wendy Darling what will you choose?

I have found decluttering can be as addictive as hoarding once you get going. Yes it is hard to shake off old habits of hanging on to stuff that "might come in useful some day". We had work done in attic and led to a major clearout. Now I try to have policy of taking something out of attic if some new item arrives for storage. Same for buying new shoes, an old pair need to be let go. Only so many garden shoes you can use up! As for clothes it is not just the smaller size items but also 'work' clothes that I will probably never have reason to wear again and also the outfit only fit for a wedding that will be so dated should another invite come along. Like party gear, you cant wear the same outfit twice to same gathering :)

I have a policy of 'if I haven't worn it in a season, then its time to go. The problem now is I have stuff I WILL be able to get into, soon I hope, so I am holding on to it. My wardrobe and drawers look very full, but I don't have anything to wear.

If its really sentimental I do know a company that turns your old clothing into beautiful patchwork type coats for you. Now wheres that link..... Ah, here you go. So you could re-cycle the clothes instead.

At the moment I ebay everything I can as I am trying, very slowly to save enough to get a business off the ground again. What I sell pays for new.

I have been selling stuff as I would like a new duck house! So far I have sold the incubator, an electric food dryer and some costume jewelry. I have a special tin I put the money in.
Today I am finally throwing out a duvet that was spoiled by the mice who lived here when we first moved in. OH is doing a rubbish run and has taken it with him (we don't have collections here, too rural). I had been thinking I could use it for something but have never found anything!
It has gone!

So glad I was able to share with you my sentiments. My daughter says to throw everything out but I have the good fortune to have space so i can keep a few things. Still have my mum's classic outfits from the 50's which I discovered only a year ago in her old wardrobe.
