The fudge counter at House of Bruar .....

(But! Did I have any????  )

NOOOOOooooooo! I did not!

But I did have Full Scottish breakfast (bacon, egg, sausage, mushrooms, haggis AND black pudding (x 3), scones, mussels in white wine, fish n chips, ice cream, apple pie ... Oh you get the idea
Silverdarling, is it fudge or tablet? Looks amazing! I would prefer it to be tablet...
and I'm fasting...
Janeg - probably some of both! ... also had a bit of homemade tablet at the b n b with our cup of tea (but only a teensy bit!)
Fudge.... Me want some :eat:

Actually, some of the most delicious fudges I ever had, I had them at Disneyland Paris. True story. They were so delicious I still have the taste in my mouth more than 10 years later
Ah, brings back memories. I was an avid tablet maker and when I did B&B a wee bit of tablet with coffee after dinner was the norm.
Now I don't have a jeely pan or a decent stove or folk to make it for. Get the occasional urge to 'do a boiling' but resist.
Manderley, didn't think fudge was on the French radar!
I have an excuse, I lived in England for 2 years so I know about their delicious ways for quite some time now.... And Disneyland Paris doesn't count as French, per say. On a side note I also had the most amazing cookies and brownies over there... :eat:

I tried to make some several times but, even if I can cook, I can't deal with fudges... :frown:
I'm not a fudge person myself but hubby has a sweet tooth. He's just discovered Muller Lite do a chocolate mouse fudge flavour at only 90 cals a pot. Helps with his sweet tooth.

Your breakfast sounded very yummy :)
I do so love fudge. There's a lot of yummy fudge to be found down under, perhaps because we had a high Scottish immigration rate. But you can keep your black pudding, that's disgusting!
... Just watching the Hairy Bikers on marmalade ( in Dundee) on bbc2 - hairy bikers best of british. Had some lovely home made marmalade at the b n b as well - really proper slightly sour tasting marmalade   dare I say it, on TOAST ...

... but still wouldn't exchange for FUDGE or TABLET

First fast day since returning home tomorrow - not weighing or measuring till Sunday, and possibly not then if I don't feel like it
Tablet is THE greatest tasting foodstuff on earth, as far as I'm concerned. WAY up there above Krispie Kremes and they are rated highly by me too! Fudge I'm a little more "meh" about.... but tablet would bring me to my knees.....

(in the old days, of course! ;) )
You said the F word. Again. AND, on my fast day! WITH pictures!!!! :curse:
@43tweaker - don't worry, you can get your own back tomorrow!
   :dazed:

Scottish Tablet vs Traditional Fudge (http://www.oldamershamsweetshop.com)

They sit proudly in our glass jars, side by side, competing for customers’ attention. Both claiming that they are the sweetest, that they should be your chosen one. The difference between their ingredients is minimal, but their devoted consumers will (and do) argue they’re so totally different you just couldn’t and shouldn’t compare them.

Tablet boasts a lengthy reputation as it appears in the history books back in the early 18th Century where it was mentioned in The Household Book of Lady Grisell Baillie (A Scottish Songwriter). Meanwhile, the good old favourite Fudge is thought to be an American invention from around the same era. Most believe the first batch was a result of a accidental “fudged” batch of caramels, hence the name “fudge”.

For those of you who have yet to compare them for yourselves, Tablet has a brittle, grainy texture, where fudge is much softer and often more chewy. Over the years, the variety of flavours of fudge has become too big to even count, from chocolate with marshmallows to vanilla with cherry, yet nobody dares play around with the lovely crumbly sugary goodness of Tablet.

@janeg - I see what you mean!  :victory: Still like them both ...

It's all good. We have a long weekend coming up...hubby took off a couple of days for our anniversary. (19 years!) We will be going to Little Nashville and I have specifically planned to visit to one of the Fudge shops there. Yes. Plural as there is more than one Fudge shop there!

Oh, and I have never had nor even heard of tablet! Aside from the Galaxy Tab 2 I am typing on right now, I mean.
