Five days post our TG dinner, and it's time for the second best part - the turkey soup.
I have pridefully said for one and a half years that I have never "failed" a fast. But cooking turkey soup on a fast day is proving to require more self control than I apparently have.
So I'm saying it now for all to hear...
I GIVE UP!

Edit... It wasn't as bad as all that. I'm calling it a "low cal" day. Maybe 700 calories, or half my TDEE.

Guess you won't be eating turkey at Xmas like most Brits! Goose, duck, game, beef. What? Peebles, I hope your son's journey was easier than anticipated and pleased to hear the turkey is now in the freezer!

@Lizbean, My son indeed got home safely. And we have managed to get through a surprising amount of turkey since Saturday, mostly because that is all we have been eating. Tonight's fast dinner was 4 oz of white meat and a cup of my curried butternut squash soup, with toast.

I always make a nice beef roast for Christmas along with a buttery Yorkshire pudding. They sell sirloin roasts at the markets this time of year and for larger families, standing rib roasts. OH's family, who have been in New England since the voyage right after the Mayflower, always serve baked ham, which I gather is the traditional Yankee Christmas dinner. But in New England people from Italian families often make Lasagna for Christmas, which is why there is always a big display of pasta and sauce in the front of the supermarket this time of year.

And we may well have another turkey for Xmas. Never enough turkey for my family. I also don't always make a feast at Xmas, sometimes just a big pot of chili or similar easy group meal.

My family always did turkey for Thanksgiving and ham for Christmas. My mom likes smoking turkey on the grill, so we have turkey year around.
