Oh, for goodness sake!
22 Dec 2013, 01:10
I just want to say that since Moogie put so much energy into setting up the awards system, everyone should READ her instructions and follow them. She asked very clearly to have a nomination, followed by one "thank" and then no further nominations for the same person, so the nomination system doesn't turn into a quasi vote.

So PAY ATTENTION TO THE INSTRUCTIONS, folks. (if I sound a bit irked, sorry, but I suppose I was, as I read posts from 20 or so people all ignoring Moogie's request.)

Merry Christmas anyhow

You're quite right Wendy and i am one of the offenders...no excuse for it..i was trying to read the rules when too much else was going on around me to take it all in..and it's not good enough when Moogie has put so much hard work in like you said..sorry Moogie ..we should have taken yr request on board x

Mea culpa for nominating 2 but precedent set and Ballerina was getting lonely

I'm guilty, too. I blame the fact that some people's stories are so darned inspirational, I can't help but click the 'like' button when someone nominates, even it's already been seconded. I'll try to control myself.

Thanks for replies, @MaryAnn, @Gillymary, and @CandiceMarie. I assume Moogie is now asleep (and shouldn't you be too - CandiceMarie?).

Sorry to be so strident - I am a technical writer and editor by day, and tend to expect others (especially smart, well-educated people, which seems to describe most who are active on the forum) to also be detail-oriented. Not everyone is, that's life.

BTW, I do not think there is a rule against nominating more than one person, from the way I read it. Just that once someone has been nominated, there should not be further discussion of that person - the polling will decide.

I have been through and deleted most of the "votes" and duplicate nominations. I hope those whose posts I've deleted are not offended!

Thanks @WendyJane for reminding folk about the rules. it's not fair on the nominees to state your vote publicly by renominating or reseconding oradding to the thank tally as it makes it clear who is likely to win.

I think I tried to stick to the rules. I'm too polite to say anything, but thanks to wendyjane for putting her foot down. :like:

I read , then re-read the rules and I stuck to them til I saw everyone else having a free for all so, hating to be the odd one out, who me-odd? I' m afraid, nay, ashamed to admit I did the same so, I shall now slope of to the naughty step and consider my behaviour

P.S. Can't really believe that anyone expected us to do as we were told, it's like herding cats round here at the best of times

Thanks for this :) I'm sure folks will try to stick with the guidelines from now on. I wasn't meaning to be harsh with the rules or anything, just trying to keep it fair and keep an element of surprise when it comes to the actual vote.

If you've re-seconded by a post or by an extra thanks, please would you edit it out/remove your thanks.

Thanks for understanding :)

And yes, you can nominate as many members as you like in the categories. If any single members are in too many categories we'll sort this out democratically before the vote, so don't worry about that for now :)

On my way out now, but happy nominating!
