oxter/back/bra balcony
17 Apr 2014, 09:51
A while ago I posted that I was very please that the bulge at the top of the brassiere back strap on my back towards the armpit had gone. :victory: A nice smooth silhouette that I really liked. Sadly, the rigging was ineffective and I had to bite the bullet and get new brassieres.
They may have fitted (they're too big now) but the overhang returned.
Now, what I'm intrested to know is if this is something that most people have or is it me being hyper critical.
And also if there is any way of getting rid of it. I know that spot reducing by exercise isn't particularly effective and given that my exercise of choice (who am I trying to kid?:0) is rowing which I would have thought would tone that area.
So, thoughts, ideas, comments to keep me going.
I'm such a slow loser I need some inspiration, please

thanks @izzy didn't even think to consult with professor google.
The rigging was fitted by specialists (do La Senza count as specialists?) They were lovely and after attempts in the sandpit to get 'fitted' shopping for said rigging is a traumatic experience! :o

Get on the rowing machine @janeg. Best toning for arms and back.

This was most helpful @Julieathome as I need to get new bra's soon......getting the right fit is paramount to a good look for the summer. Thank you for the link.

i would really not recommend La Senza for bra fitting, they tend to fit you to the bras rather than bras to you in my experience.

i would recommend measuring yourself - measure your ribcage/underboobs. if this comes to 34inches, then buy a bra with a 34inch band. some shops will add 2inches to this measurement (for no good reason, thanks M&S). then measure your boobs across the fullest point. i can't remember the alchemy that comes with how you calculate the cup size (see google!) but whatever it comes to, that's your cup size.

then try on bras in those sizes. if you find a cup size that fits but tight on the band, then go up a band size but down a cup size. similarly, you can go down a band size but up a cup size to find a fit that way too.

if you were in the uk (and a DD cup or bigger) i'd have recommended Bravissimo as they are really good. i went in wearing a just-measured M&S bra of 38DD and came out wearing a 34GG with my boobs in the right place.

also, bulge sometimes happens if the bra isn't the right size, make sure the band is in the right place all the way around.

actually, i think bravissimo might have a guide to fitting on their website!

(sorry for the havering!)

After reading this thread, I went in and got myself measured for a bra, and came out with a wonderfully comfortable one, but boy did it take a while! And it cost an arm and a leg compared to those I looked at online from M&S. I was going to order a couple of the tshirt bras that were on the bra review but got cold feet (or was that boobs?!) and decided not too as it is too hard sending them back if they aren't right. I resent paying so much more here for something often of inferior quality

Once I found a good brand and style of bra that fitted me, I bought the rest of my bras on ebay. Brand new and half the price of the store bought one. :like:
