R.I.P Nelson Mandela

A sad day, but being a human being, it had to happen.

Rest in Peace Nelson Mandela.

It was a life worthwhile. I do hope South Africa doesn't throw away all he achieved.

Oh I didn't know he'd died. What a sad day indeed. A truly inspirational man...

Yes there was a newsflash on tv
Long time since i saw one of those
The world is less bright without him
A bit bizarre for me tho...was watching Mrs Brown's Boys for the first time,as PennyFT said how funny it was...
And now Mrs Brown and Mandela will always be inextricably linked in my head,as a funny show was interrupted by sad news...

very sad news but what a legacy to leave the world with. May he rest in peace after all his battles.

I am deeply privileged to have known someone (and spent New Year 2000 with him at our house) who spent time in Robben Island with Nelson Mandela. #respect all round.

He is proof that one man CAN change so much.

God bless 'Madiba'. Also have a colleague in J'Burg who counted him as a close friend.

Just saw this on the news when I woke up. I remember demonstrating in Sheffield in the 1980s for his release, and boycotting a certain bank for their support of the regime. How exciting when he was released at last. It seems a long time ago now; I just hope the legacy that he left isn't squandered by the current generation of leaders. The country could achieve so much, the alternative doesn't bear thinking about for the people of South Africa.
