Has anyone used this? It seems as though it is a new craze with many celebrities losing weight weight with it. It's supposed to increase fat loss, increase energy & have a superior anti oxydent effect!
I am very dubious but also curious!
As you might expect there is no evidence that these can help you lose weight.
This website examined the evidence: http://examine.com/supplements/Raspberry+Ketone/
The concentration which is required to have fat burning effects is astronomically high, and the oral doses used in the rat studies similarly high.

They have also started looking at aloe vera and have this to say
Preliminary studies show benefit with aloe vera in controlling weight, but the mechanisms do not seem as potent as other anti-obesity supplements. Aloe vera is also a generally healthy compound, but has been implicated in multiple cases of liver problems (which are not too common, although resurgent) and has a lower toxicity threshold than other herbal supplements.
And here's a more in depth review of raspberry ketones: http://authoritynutrition.com/do-raspbe ... ones-work/

I love his summing up:
Of all the weight loss supplements I have reviewed (including Yacon Syrup and the disappointing Garcinia Cambogia), raspberry ketones are the least promising.

They seem to work in isolated fat cells and in test animals fed extreme doses, but this has absolutely no relevance to the doses commonly recommended in humans.

Given the fact that we would need such ridiculous doses to achieve the fat burning effects seen in the animal studies, I highly doubt that raspberry ketones will have any significant effect.

Just for the sake of self-experimentation, I even tried raspberry ketones for a few days. The only effect I noticed was a fruity burp.

If smelly, uncontrollable burps are a huge problem in your life, then perhaps raspberry ketones are something you want to consider.

But if weight loss is your goal… then you’d probably lose more weight from the calories burned walking to the store and buying the pills, than the pills themselves.
Thank you Caroline! I felt sure there must be more information about this. Another smoke & mirrors myth?
I think these gimmicks have a kind of placebo effect. If you believe that they work you subconsciously cut calories and move more without even realising it. It gives people a hook to hang their diet on. That's probably why some people report success.
I read reviews of somewhere selling the raspberry /aloe combo online..all the reviews criticised being ripped off after an initial free trial
Looks like some unsuspecting naive folks gave bank details and got billed for monthly orders they didnt request
This worked out very costlyand peeps seemed to have trouble subscribing
Never forget the old saying," Caveat Emptor" : " Buyer Beware"
I just read about this on a facebook group this morning and this is what I posted:

I've spent so much money to try to lose weight: meal replacement shakes, supplements, gym memberships... Guess what? Losing weight can be FREE! If you learn to be patient (no quick fixes) 5:2 will work. You don't have to buy any special foods or products. And walking is free! Exercise videos on YouTube are free! The two things you need to lose weight and get fit are free, but they can't be bought: self discipline, and patience.

There are now 10 likes for what I posted. Commenters above me also complained about being scammed and having to contact their bank and have their credit cards cancelled.
