So this thing with my back became too much for me to cope with, and I was having immense pain in my hip, so much so I could hardly walk to and from work. She thinks I may have damaged it further so I have to have another MRI scan, 2 weeks sick leave to rest and some new anti-inflamatory tablets. So needless to say I'm fed up, and worried it might need to be operated on now But I really need to sort it out as my boyfriend and I want to start trying for a baby in the next couple of years and I know how bad it can be with back pain in a normal back.

Oh no. *hugs* So sorry to hear this news especially as you are so young . Let's see what the MRI says first. In the meantime, you might need to be fit for the op so it's an incentive to knuckle down on 5:2. Hope your appointment for the scan comes through quickly.
Sorry to hear you're having such a bad time with your back - I used to have back pain years ago and found the McKenzie Technique (google it) the most useful and informative way to deal with it and get relief. Hope you feel better soon.
Huge sympathy hug to you. I'm not sure of the cause of your back trouble, but here's a hopeful tale for you, which might help...
My back had got to the point of my not being able to stand / move because of the pain (embarrassing when one is walking down the high-street, to say the least) and I was dreading seeing the doctor about it. Started to lose weight - back began to get better.
Five months later and more than two stone off, and I can now walk distances that I couldn't dream of before, and with pleasure rather than tears in my eyes, and stand about in galleries without grinding my teeth with pain.
Only drawback so far is that I no longer have an excuse for not doing the washing up. All the very best xxx FatDog Slimmer.

Assume you have tried Bowen therapy too? Friend of mine is a practitioner and has had people bent over double with bad backs able to stand up straight for first time in years and pain free.
Thank you all for your sympathetic comments. I've never heard of Bowen therapy Karen. Are they a practitioner in London? I'll have a look for some more information about it.
Fatdog, I have lost 4st in the past year and the pain is getting worse. It's the discs in the lower portion of my spine, they are protruding from the spine and irritate the sciatic nerve- that's what the doc thought was the problem with my hip it was just the nerve.

As a back pain sufferer since my early twenties, I send hugs and sympathy winging your way. However awful the prospect of treatment, you will feel so much better, especially when pregnant.
Good luck x

Sorry no. She is oop north, but there are plenty of therapists in London on Dr Google.
Hang in there! Hoping you get some great care Daydreamer.
I get sciatica so bad that I was taken into A&E the last time. But, regular massage by a masseuse who understands sports therapy has really helped. She also does Reiki and combines the two to get my hips and pelvis back in alignment. Mine does say that my hips and pelvis shift out of position because I walk to compensate for the neck injury, which puts strain where it shouldn't be and over a month it throws my hips and pelvis out of alignment.
A good masseuse should help. If nothing else she should be able to reduce the tensions in the rest of your body that add up to all over pain.

Dreamer this is awful for you ( hugs + my sympathy ) well I know either of those won't help you, as already said wait for MRI and then the results to see if further damage had been caused.
Just for now dwell on the fabulous compliments made to you earlier in the day by your work colleagues. Good. Luck. Sue.

Thank you hun. Yeah I'm just going to wait and see what my MRI has to say. I'm just hoping that my back is just in spasms and there isn't any further damage.
As an intermittent back sufferer you have my full sympathies. Hoping for the best for you and sending hugs {{{+}}}
