Hi to all the Cornish people out there, would you be willing to help me an exiled Cornish maid?

I have been away from Cornwall for quite some time now and as Easter is fast approaching I am once again missing "proper hot cross buns"

Does anyone know where I can order online saffron hot cross buns? Growing up I didn't realise hot cross buns could be made without saffron, I have tried to make them but they don't work out. Second best would be an infallible recipe (hope that's spelt correctly).

If you can help I will love you forever  Here's hoping :clover:

Warrens in St Just, do the best Safron cake, I think they do the clotted cream to go with it, which goes on last, not first.
Hi, yeah I know they do saffron cake, I have ordered it from them in the past, what I want is saffron hot cross buns, any ideas?

Simple google search shows they did sell them.

or try
200ml milk, plus a little more for glazing
3 cardamom pods, bruised
1 cinnamon stick
2 cloves
¼ tsp grated nutmeg
Pinch of saffron
20g fresh yeast
50g golden caster sugar, plus extra to glaze
450g strong white flour
100g butter
½ tsp salt
½ tsp ground ginger
3 eggs
150g currants
50g mixed peel
3 tbsp plain flour
Hi, thanks for your help. Warrens may still sell them however they are not available online and as I am exiled to Yorkshire it's too far to pick them up myself. :frown:

Rowes are good, there is a number to call

I know it says Christmas but if you give them a call they may help, although at £5.60 postage I think I'd make them myself!
Surely you need breadandwine's input here? He has recipes for everything!
