new bantams?

Right, people keep mentioning hens...anyone know where I can source a couple of bantams? Anywhere from N Wales down thru the Midlands/Oxon as going on some road trips soon.

Got two retired ladies but fed up of shop eggs.

Love chucks! Can't help you as I'm in Sussex, but I'm looking forward to getting some again, once it warms up enough for me to go out and sort out hen house, run etc (house is in bits in the shed).

I've got an old copy of Poultry magazine somewhere (yep I'm that sad), I'll have a look if I can see anyone advertising up your way.

Our local chicken lady is wonderful but doesn't have bantams. Can recommended her hens very highly though if you want large fowl and she has some lovely new hybrids that are triggering a bout of morehens disease in me!

Thanks, both, know I should probably post in a poultry forum but like it here!

Oooh, what a nice site and lovely looking hens.

Morehens disease is infectious. We've only got an Eglu, so limited on roosting space. Hence bantams as I'm not going to dispatch the current retired duo. Plus I grew up with hens and bantams so like them.

My OH was nonplussed when I said we were getting hens for our then very small garden, he now looks after them completely!

I have very large Buff Orpingtons whom I love! I have a six hen house, an Eglu for isolating and a small sheep barn dubbed Cluckinham palace. One cockerel and 8 ladies and 3 chicks in the brooder. Love having them and love all the gorgeous eggs they give me. Have not had shop eggs for over three years!

Ha! Another secret chicken keeper here. I can't help with your question. Sorry! We've just added three more hybrid pullets to our backgarden flock. We suffered a horrid fox attack on NYD, so i only have one lovely legbar left and five cheeky hybrids.
