saggy face
04 Apr 2013, 09:06
Hi

Can you lovely ladies out there give me any tips, I seem to have developed what look like fine stretch marks where my double chin used to be. (That image of me is last years btw) My regular face cream is not doing anything. I keep gurning and trying to stretch my face but it looks silly, can't afford a face lift, OH thinks I'm seeing things duh. Any suggestions apart from grow old gracefully (thank you daughter) will be much appreciated.

Hi

I started a skin care regime when I started this diet (thinner face = more wrinkles)

I did lots of research into wrinkle creams, you will be glad to know I am on a budget. I came up with these:

Cleanser - Extra virgin olive oil! No it doesn't bring me out in spots. Apply with fingers then wipe off with warm flannel. I heard lots of great reports from using it. It even removes mascara, and is supposed to help with fine lines. I had it in my cupboard so it was free!

Creams (all from Aldi) - wrinkle stop, serum, anti aging day cream and also their night cream. The serum was voted one of the best as was the day cream.

I liked the look of Athena 7 Minute Lift which contains acetyl hexapeptide-3 but it is £40 - £50

Thanks Nikki

Its only recently been bugging me and you are right about thinner face = more wrinkles. I have the ex/v olive oil and Friday is my Aldi day so I will have a good look around. I have stuck to the same routine and products for years so the new me, wrinkles and all deserve a pampering.

It is quite expensive but I find the Decleor range for older skin is very moisturising & doesn't dry my skin like some moisturisers do, it is much cheaper on Amazon & you could go via Moogies link, the duo of cleansing milk & tonic is a good offer? Also the Boots anti ageing gel also feels very smooth.

I use bio-oil for my tummy scars and stretchmarks. Seems to help, although I've got nothing to compare them to...

I will take a look on Amazon, I have just been in looking at kindle books, thanks for reminding me about Moogies link.

Thanks for your reply Giddy

I wondered about bio-oil, I haven't used it myself, is it safe for facial use.

I have not tried it, but face yoga is supposed to help some. It's free:)

A Firm Face Secret: The anti-sagging exercise
(from Dr. Dukan)

"Lift up the lower part of the face by tensing the muscles in the mouth and cheeks.

After the age of 40, losing weight, more than 10 pounds, carries the risk of reducing the thickness of the subcutaneous support structure which supports the face's skin. This skin that lies over a base of bone and muscle is held in place by tiny, thin bonds that cross the intermediary layer of fat. Losing weight may empty these areas of padding and take away the smoothness of the face. As a result, the lower part of the face is more subject to the effects of gravity and it loosens. To counteract this, I have devised a lifting movement through tensing the mouth and cheek muscles that you should practice as often as possible. Place your lips in a "pout" and keep this posture. Then contract your cheeks muscles so that your lips are drawn backwards creating tension between the muscles in your mouth and those in your cheeks as they are each pulling in their direction. This tension between the muscles lifts the cheeks upwards mechanically to form really round cheekbones--drawing the whole of the lower face up towards them. Maintain this position until you feel your muscles grow tired. Keep practicing this often."

Hi Chris057,

I have recently started to use bio oil on my face and neck. My face still looks like a crumpled piece of paper but my neck looks as though it belongs to someone else. I can't believe the difference, the crepe paper look has, in fact gone completely. I keep looking at my neck in different lights and in different mirrors around the house as I'm convinced that I am imagining this change. I know the 'mind over matter' theory can account for, apparent, miracles but it really seems to be true.

Against my better judgement I shall continue to use the bio oil and if it makes no difference to any other part of me at least my scrawny neck looks a lot better.

Hope this helps, but don't forget, better a few wrinkles than being fat and unhealthy,

Ballerina x

I get dark circles under my eyes (you can't see so well in the avi due to the lighting which is why I like it) and bags if I'm tired. I always used to slap lots of eye cream right under my eye, but apparently the best way to put it on is to put it along the eye socket, so that your delicate skin around your eye can draw up the moisture if it needs it. Apparently slapping lots of cream on just causes bags!

I do put it on the sides on crows feet though as well.

Another tip is lifting weights in the gym. Makes me pull all sorts of funny faces :dazed: and my face always feels a bit firmer and lifted after!

Weights seem to act like a whole body lift anyway...
