No woman under 55 shall weigh over 11 stone. LOL.

Yes, you are right, for my height/age the BMI is 22.66 so just over the middle range.

very interesting....

my own target is actually 9lbs below the age adjusted number according to this.... my target is the same weight as I was about 9 years ago, when it would have been about 2 lbs light too...

but as mentioned up thread, it doesn't take account of build - I have a very light frame and carry weight in a typical pear shape... so although I am currently only about 2 lbs above what this says I should be, I think there is still some scope to slim a bit further and stay in a healthy BMI - and maybe then my thighs wont meet so easily too ;)

My thighs were still meeting at a BMI of 20 so that is why I wanted to get it down further!

Food rationing would still be on then so I suppose the temptation wasn't around, no snacking in those days, just 3 healthy meals if you we're one of the lucky ones.

Thanks for posting, makes interesting reading.

Actually, my mum was born in 1950 and she had 5 meals when she was growing up and still does. And she is quite thin!
Snacking in Greece is a must but healthy snacks are a must too.

Not to disappoint you but when my mum had a hyperthyroid crisis and lost over 10 kilos in less than 2 weeks (she was 36 kilos) her thighs still met. And my thighs still met when I was at my skinniest possible. Being a pear does that to our thighs.

Wow, 36 kilos, that is nothing!!
LOL TML, yes, I need to be below 60kgs to have The Gap. The joys of being a pear indeed. Aside from the flabby thighs I'm lucky to have a very small bottom, so thank goodness for small mercies

YES! She looked like a child, it was really scary. Still, her thighs were there, meeting each other. I remember the time when this was upsetting me, now I just invest in good tights for the winter and good shapewear for the summer and forget about it...
