Doodle - my parent still live near Wetherby, and my nephew just graduated from Leeds, Spanish and Economics ...
TML - but a black and white cat would gave had to be 'Miss Prada Toon' !!
Miss Loony Toon sounds better, LOL!
If you said 'loony toon' in Newcastle, you might have to leave town rather quickly !
I used to teach English in Sooth Sheels'man (like teaching English as a foreign language really!).
I used to go rallying all around Northumberland and really miss those borderlands.
Trying to persuade hub to go there on holiday...mmmm Craster kippers!

Haha - yes agree with doodle that must have been an experience!
Craster kippers still going strong ... Along with crab sandwiches from the Ship at Low Newton, Embleton Bay. Lots of cyclists on the long straight roads these days, and lots of tearoom and cafe pitstops for them all over the county - in some ways it's like I imagine the fifties must have been like! Very empty roads still, away from the south east of the county.
But parts of North and South Tyneside are 'desolate' to use today's phrase - acres of closed and decaying factory and shipyard sites - not like the centre of town round the Quayside, the Sage and Baltic.
Well, I can't remember the 50's, but I can remember rallying through Kielder before the damn and life in the 'city' before the Metro and Metro Centre. Oh damn, I'm missing it badly now.
You will probably remember Bellingham then, Wark, the Military Road, the A68 ... Corbridge, Rothbury, Alnwick, Wooler ...
And in town, the Tyneside Cinema (and Coffee rooms) now both renovated, Theatre Royal, the Grainger Market, Grey Street, the Assembly Rooms ... And the Bigg Market on a Saturday neet
Fenwicks ... the Crown Posada, the Tyne Bar, the Free Trade, Cumberland Arms, the Bridge Hotel ... And in North Shields, Magnesia Banks ... All still going strong

I remember at the cheese counter in Fenwicks (aka Fenix)) telling a woman I admired the dress she'd made. When she asked me how I knew she'd made it, I said she still had the tacking stitches in the back... oooops
I used to buy a lovely smelly cheese in fennix, too.... Havarti (aka have farti, will travel) I'll get me coat....

... Foodhall is still there, but they now have a yo sushi bar, you know with the trundling plastic mini dishes running by which you pull off one by one ... and of course they still have the christmas window display ...
I can feel a Christmas visit coming on...
