Right now I have a playlist with a lot of different things. From the last Mark Owen solo album to Chris Cornell, Slash, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie (Ziggy Stardust period) and Coverdale/Page

The classical music is more for when I read. I just love Vivaldi's Four Seasons, especially Winter

Now I'm listening to my favorite mezzo-soprano Diana Damrau. This gives me goose pimples from head to toe.

At that minute I am listening to Joey Ramone's album "...Ya know ?" and I am in love

I had it for some time and didn't listen to it yet, a bit worried

And just because it's a beautiful day

My refrigerator humming and my grandson sighing as he starts to wake.

Just listened to Sammartini's concerto in F for descant recorder on Radio 3 - which takes me back 12 years to when my elder son won the local early music performance competition playing the first movement. Too late for my dad to see, he died the year before, but mum was there and loved his playing. Not heard him play a recorder for 5 years; although he is an organist now we think it is a shame to not keep up his earlier skill...

Bobbyd: just listened to your Diana Damrau link - spectacular singing, but I don't think she could be a mezzo with those top notes? My favorite soprano for years has been Barbara Bonney...

Geoffrey Smith's Jazz programme.

Just been listening over and over (at least a dozen times) to Sarah Vaughan singing 'Send in the clowns' - one of my all-time favourites, and I hadn't heard her version before. Every time I heard it, I liked it more.

However, this gave me a yen for the first version of this I ever heard - by Glynis Johns - so I brought it up on YouTube.

And, oh my word! Sarah Vaughan is good (bit trite to say that, sorry) - bloody good. But to see and hear Glynis Johns - whose voice isn't a patch on Sarah's - act and sing the part…it just doesn't compare!

Typing this through my tears - they're there every time I watch it!

(Disclaimer: the fact that I'm halfway through a bottle of wine has absolutely nothing to do with it!)

Karl Smith's (formerly of Sodastream) new single. I have always loved his voice.
