When I'm stressed I respond well to music especially uplifting music - just turn the volume up. At the moment I have so much whirring around my tiny brain so I've been getting into the habit of when I go to bed (on my own, leaving OH watching TV), shutting the bedroom door, lying on the floor and spending 10/15 mins practising mindfulness. It helps me empty my mind and sleep better.
@wildmissus i think the mindfulness is a great thing to use, specially for folk like you with busy families and jobs x
I like the feeling I get when I've posted all my cards and presents. I stand in a queue in the post office and arrange complicated packaging and addressing to distant places. It costs more to post the presents than I spent on the actual presents, but that's the game and I accept it. I walk out of the post office with an empty basket and the stress lifts. I've made the dead line. Now I can focus on making Christmas puddings, icing the Christmas cake, making mince pies. decorating the Christmas tree. School is over, so that stress has lifted and the next week can be a pleasure, enjoying summer days in the garden and cooking.
Being with my in-laws is uplifting and as much as I love having them all at our home it will be nice and less stressful being at my sister in laws this year.
@Wineoclock read on the fasting thread about yr DD being away for Xmas for first time
Sending hugs. Hope you can Skype x enjoy yr time at SILs..hope you can put yr feet up and get spoiled.
@Merlin its so good to get together with family this time of year, specially if there's little ones in the equation to spread the magic! X
@Sallyo i felt like i was with you in the Post Office queue, and the satisfying feeling coming out with everything dispatched, and going home to do all the traditional things x
