@Izzy! I think you hit the answer! I've seen several people saying they wrote a longish post today and then lost it. @Moogie, are we timing out too quickly? Or is that something that can't be changed because we'll be at capacity?

Hi Sue, I used to have this problem in the early days when I wrote lengthy replies. I have also noticed quite a few posts with people saying the same thing recently.
Also, as mods, we cannot see any posts until they have been submitted and are then there for everyone to read, so it isn't possible for us to delete anything before it is submitted. I also can't imagine you writing anything that would be concerning even if you were having a rant .
Hopefully next time Moogie is around she'll have a look at the issue.

Well, here's my two pennyworth Sue, over the last couple of days I have noticed that loading pages is very sluggish, I couldn't even reply to your post about that as the pages took so long to load that it kept crashing. That might be what the problem is. I did find that signing out and back in again helped things along. I have also noticed that when I am signed in the time is correct but when I am signed out it is an hour out (BST)
I hope that post January 1st it can cope with all the new members that will be joining us. I'm sure Moogie will be able to sort it for us. But anyway, I concur with the others, you couldn't possibly offend anyone, I always look forward to reading your posts, always so kind and encouraging x

We very seldom remove anything but duplicate posts so please don't think this is something being done to you deliberately!
I have two guesses - server running slow at the time and not receiving the date quickly enough - not much we can do about that for now but hoping for some upgrades early in the year.
The other possibility and one which seems quite likely if it's noticed mostly with longer posts:
When you post a reply, the system checks if there have been other replies while you were writing yours. If there are new replies it will show you then & give you the chance to edit your reply before it is finally posted. When this happens you need to click again to confirm you're happy with your reply as it is (or that you have edited it to your satisfaction) before it will actually be posted. If you don't click to confirm then the message will not be posted. This is particularly likely to happen on longer posts as in the time you take to write it, it's well possible that others will have replied in the meanwhile!
Perhaps I should disable this check?

Many thanks @moogie sorry to be a pain and so suspicious Yes I went along with @izzy on the slow typing that sounded the obvious reason as. @Betsysgr8 said same and I am slow at typing, my other tablet used to say if anyone had posted and did I want to go ahead but this newer/better on doesn't!!!!
I lost a post just now in exactly that way...there were other posts added while I was composing mine, but I could have sworn I clicked confirm! I can only guess that yet another post was submitted just before I clicked confirm and I didn't wait for the confirmation message!
@Moogie I do think the confirmation page allowing one to edit one's post if someone else has posted beforehand is worth keeping as I often do modify my post in the light of the newer messages.
Hope the server can cope with the expected January rush!!!!

Hi everyone, yes, since I am a writer of long posts, I've had the server ask me if I want to modify my post, but unlike others, I do find this irritating. Also I'm finding the server is quite unresponsive at times - yesterday around 0600 GMT (or whatever it's called now), I couldn't get onto the site at all for about an hour - very frustrating! Maybe a server upgrade is required? Not meaning to tell you your job, @moogie!
I too would be in favor of disabling the check as I have often lost a post and then didn't take the time to retype the message.
It would be nice if the check was settable in the ucp, so you can choose to have it or not. I'll look into that
There should be a server upgrade coming early in the new year, but more on that another time. Got to sort out my house move first!
