No restrictions here either. Bought some burnt fig and caramel ice cream already, definitely smoked salmon and as we are hoping for a warm Christmas I intend to buy loads of prawns and ham. Baked potatoes will be a treat. I don't like Christmas pud or brandy sauce but others will want (and eat) them.

Good on you Penny! i can see that will work well for you n hubs. X x
I feel pretty much " done" with Christmas..don't get me wrong, i love the glitter and sparkle of it all and we need all the lovely twinkling lights this dark time of year, but the enormous commercialism of it sickens me when there are people without adequate water, food and shelter in the 21 century..how can that be so? (Sorry if this sounds too bah humbug)
I agree with Auriga, its a time of year where i like to give to childrens and animal charities rather than spend out / overindulge in a greedfest of materialism.. I only buy for children these days and never send cards..the money goes to charity instead.
i would be more than happy with a turkey and stuffing sarnie, a mince pie and a large glass of Baileys ,to me best eaten on crimbo eve when theres magical expectation in the air as the little kids who " believe" are getting excited. ....And while wrapping presents and half watching some old crimbo film at the same time
Also agree with Moogie tho..for those throwing themselves wholeheartedly into the complete shebang ( and i dont blame them) they can easily fix it later..after all by now,we all know how IF works, and hey dont forget, sometimes a little over indulgence actually triggers more weight loss
Now howz that for a fab Christmas gift! xX

I won't buy any of that stuff. I have already made the Christmas cake and dozens of little Christmas puddings. I made them in a muffin tin and sampled one the other night, just to make sure they are ok. YES! I'm going to make little icecreams to go with them. I will also make fruit mince over this weekend. I love doing all that stuff. I make 3 dozen mince pies and I have to tell my OH that there is no such thing as 'enough' mince pies. And then there's short bread. I love to make star shapes, which a silver cachou on the top. So No buying, but lots going on in the kitchen.
Without sounding too much of a Scrooge or a skinflint we really don't overindulge on food at Christmas. I've learnt my lesson after years of buying stuff no one wants just because it's traditional, then chucking it all out uneaten. I hate waste so we'll have a good dinner with a decent wine and my favourite treat will be a home made trifle. I think a lot of eating for the sake of it goes on over Christmas, probably through boredom, and to me it's just not worth it.
