WHY we eat
15 May 2014, 13:01
Apart from needing to supply ourselves with nutrition, of course!

I'm putting this here from the mountaineering tent, because I think these articles deserve a more general audience.

They are about how going deeper into our reasons for non-hungry eating can be life-changing, this first one seems to cover all of the reasons I overeat (although I don't like that she lumps 5:2 in with other diets, but I suppose I can forgive her!

And the second one is a great example of how going deeper allows us to understand ourselves and our needs:

enjoy!

Thanks for fixing these, they were both interesting & similar to the work of Linda Bacon, Jon Robison & Judith Matz here in the states. For me, the Health at Every Size approach is most effective, using 5:2 to get back in touch with real hunger and paying attention to hunger cues is making this WoE a choice, not an imposition so its working for me on many levels.
Great idea to reflect on the "why's" of things. Successfully made it through another fast day today, ate well & feel good - can't ask for more than that. I'm ditching diets forever.

Thanks for posting this - I can relate to the dark chocolate eater! That is me all over. The one thing I noticed most of all when I started this WOE was how it stopped my grazing! Now that I am maintaining, I am a little more relaxed about it, but once I am done eating for the day, that is it. AND I won't die! It has just helped me in that regard. Now as to the personal psychological background - I can't say I've explored that at all. Interesting.

Oh, thanks so much for your help as always, @adfnfuel, how embarrassing! I think the problem occurred when I copied it from the other thread, I will try to rectify it up above as well.

@jools7 for a biological perspective, this is a good article: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3174765/
