Wild animal park experience?
06 Feb 2014, 12:14
I do not know if this is appropriate or not (if not feel free to remove this post) but I, or more correctly my oldest son Sam, is in need of some help. If it is possible....

Sam (who turns 18 in June) attend to a secondary upper school (Swedish "gymnasiet" in a city 180km south from me. He is in the Natural resource program and will be a wild animal keeper when he graduates in 2015. Now - the school is planning that the students will have the possibility to do some work practice/volunteer abroad for 2-3 weeks around Easter 2015. The school think Sam (and his friends) ought to find these places themselves, but how? When they don't know what to look for? So I promised him I will send out some feelers, so far I have found and emailed two places in South Africa - Enkosini and a place where they have safaris on horse back "Wait a Little".

Now my question - do any of you have any family, friends etc. that works or knows of any places in South Africa or Australia (or anywhere else except the USA due to visa regulations) where Sam can apply? I truly hope this will happen for my amazing son. He truly is amazing  , he left home at 16 and have been living by himself and fixing it all ever since.

Hugs and Hopes!!
From an Australian perspective, he could try contacting wildlife parks, there are many that keep and breed native Australian animals. For example there is a wildlife place near us called Bonorong Wildlife Park in Tasmania (on Facebook). There are others: www.conservationvolunteers.com.au
If you google conservation volunteers in the countries you are interested in, you will find something.
Thank you so much for your suggestions. I have sent the link to Bonorong to Sam, if he likes it (what's not to like) I will make an inquiry on his behalf ;)
