That's hilarious @Candicemarie sounds like she was a right character! What did you say to her? It must have been the most surprising present anyway!
I never had a bad present ever or I really really have a bad memory for the bad things. Maybe a box of chocolate when I was trying to be careful to what I was eating but even that was with good intentions and that's all that count... Also people around me tend to ask me what I want for years now so that helps a lot I suppose
I can honestly say that my parents was never any good with Christmas gifts, or anything else in the gift dept. Except for that year when my dad got me a huge bottle of Chanel No5.
The worst they managed to come up with was a large Steiff they bear…I was in my teens and both my sis and me had wished for a puppy as long as I could remember. But we got a bear :(

The second worse was a hat: I had soooo much wished for a Dr Zhivago type of fur hat and had tried one out, so I knew I would look good in one. What did I get? A kind of helmet like (think Courege) fake fur with kind of flanges that come over the cheekbones, cause " I had such trouble with my sinuses". I went into the loo and cried my yes out and that hat was never worn, not once.

Thankfully we have our own tradition The DH and me and no longer have Christmas gifts among grown ups, nor among any other parts of our families.

She was always mischievous bordering on malicious! @nursebean ..had had horrible life with horrible hub so forgave her anything really..It was a Quality St themed christmas that year,as on Crimmo Day,late at night, saw a little kitten sitting on back wall..I teetered dangerously on a stepladder in the snow to bring it indoors ..stayed up most of the night playing with it..next day knocked on doors and found it belonged three doors down...kids and older cat fretting awww! Later, knock on front door and big box of Quality St delivered to say thank you! Plus we had bought our own box too! X
