3 Month Weigh In...15 lbs lost!
05 Sep 2013, 17:26
So, including the the first 6 weeks where I lost 6 lbs, that makes 21 lbs down after 4 1/2 months, so I'm falling right in line with the average 1 lb / week loss.

Couldn't be happier...more important than the actual number of the weight loss, is my new found sense of relief. I no longer have to worry about every single little thing I eat or drink, I don't have need to beat myself up if I have cake. I haven't binged and / or purged, nor even really considered it in the whole time I've been doing this.

I can relax. Everything is going to be ok.
Glad to near of your new found relaxed way of life. Excellent results and good luck with you continued success.. So will you share with others how you have achieved this great success.
If they ask, and even then I'll double check and say do you really want to know? 'cause sometimes people will just say "what's your secret" as idle chit chat....diet talk is intensely boring to others if they're not interested!
Hi Gingertea Welcome and well done you've done fantastically well
Good Luck to you :clover: Sue
Well done gingertea
Do you have any tips to offer that have helped you do so well?

Well, nothing too earth shattering, but I will happily tell you the way I do it.

First, I call it "lean day" and "regular day"....mentally it's just easier for me to take...doesn't set me up for binging or freaking out (since I have had bulimia I have to watch for stuff like that).

For the same reason, I don't really count calories, but on "lean days" I have lunch and supper, both of which are a bit of lean protein and plenty of non-starchy vegetables. I usually have some fruit after dinner,(some fresh pineapple or mango). I do Mondays and Thursdays lean, usually. If for some reason I can't do a lean day due to obligations, I'll do a 16:8 instead. That happened a couple times.

Most importantly FOR ME, I don't weigh very often. First I did 6 weeks to test the WOE. Then I did 3 months. Not weighing allows me to "forget" that I'm dieting to lose weight, not get twisted up if I gain one day and lose the next...it just becomes more of a habit, like this is how I eat now. Also, for me, it's more encouraging to log occasional big losses, I feel more successful that way, which in turns encourages better habits on my part!

The rest of the time I try to eat just sort of regular. 5:2 allows me to just relax and eat without too much thought. I do try to cut down on processed starchy stuff (bread, pasta) to one or two servings a day, but that's not a hard and fast rule. I still love ice cream, so I indulge, but try to not to overdo it. But really, I don't spend much time thinking about what I will eat...which is light years beyond how I used to be, always obsessed with food and what I would make/eat next.

Wow, that turned out to be longer than I thought it would be! lol
